I think I last watched it in the Ray "Stubbsy" Stubbs era with any kind of regularity whenever that would have been...but I am guessing too many competitors,Saturday pre lunch no longer being the start or end even of a footballing bookended week and the BBC remit of having to appeal to all has diluted it's content to banality and beije. Trying to recall if back in the day if the two shows overlapped. I think Football Focus came first, around 12:20pm on the BBC, and then it was time to switch over to Saint and Greavsie on ITV around 1pm.
Then off to meet mates at 2pm on the corner of heatherhayes and Prince of wales drive. Walk to the ground, expectations high, always, but not out of control. Pre internet football was important but it didn’t consume you in the same way. |  |

Having said, Sky Sports on a Saturday afternoon which used to be an absolute gem of a football show , Jeff and the boys is now a shadow of what it used to be. |  | | |
