Luongo 09:01 - Mar 8 with 1778 viewsgeg1992

All season I've thought that the centre of midfield has been our downfall. Now that Luongo has come in to the side, I really feel like we're much more balanced there. He brings so much energy, aggressiveness and can play great passes.

Evans, Ball and Humphreys are all great players, but the pairing of Morsy and Luongo is our best, most balanced pairing in my opinion.

We'd be top if we'd had him since the start of the season.

And if we'd had both him and Broadhead since the start of the season we'd be mathematically promoted already.

Can't believe Uefa didn't add us to the Champions league draw for the 2nd round this season in a special guest slot when we signed those 2!

The best Town central midfield pairing since "Skuglas", for sure...

I think it's more of a case of Morsey having to be more careful in avoiding a yellow card and that's making him a better player. Hopefully this period has taught Morsey one thing, he's a better player when not jumping in like a headless chicken and giving away stupid free kicks

Morsy seems like a different player with Luongo along side him. Still rate Evans as one of our best players though.

I'm going to say it, I know this is radical, but I think they be better than Skuglas.

Morsy has been very good all season but he's gone up a level in recent games. Luongo is quality. He played a couple of through balls yesterday which just completely unlocked Accrington.

Great pairing.

Truly impaired.

Luongo is Morsy but with added Andre Dozzell slide rule passes.

The problem with Dozzell was that was pretty much all he had.

The problem with Morsy is that if he is paired with a more lightweight midfielder he has to do all of the tackling and ends up picking up too many cards.

Luongo coming in mid-season means he has a lot of "spare" yellows, and so he can tackle hard. It's the key unspoken factor in Morsy's ability to navigate these games without picking up a yellow.

Not sure anyone should be surprised - when he played for Wednesday they all raved about him being quality, and then we did get him from a Championship side.

I think if you only have 2 in there against what we are up against then they need to be physically very good and be able to play as well. I think Dom Ball looked like he could do that but for me, as good as Evans was in first half of season he just lacks that mobility against some sides and we get given the run around in there

Ball, Luongo and Morsy are the 3 who are mobile enough to get round the park and physical and agile enough to compete when they get there, plus win their headers etc.

The drop off to Humphreys has been very noticeable. It's fair to say we look a totally different team with Luongo in there. Wonder if eventually he will end up as a 10 because of the lack of physicality he has.

Despite his slender frame, Humphreys is actually a very good tackler.

The centre of our midfield has not been our downfall this season.

Central midfield our downfall?

We’ve have the 8/10 on a bad day Sam Morsy all season and Evans was arguably our POTS prior to him getting injured the first time. Then we’ve had the outstanding young Cameron Humphreys come in.

Luongo has added more strength to an already outstanding department.

We’ve just been a tad unlucky with the injuries to Ball and Camara.

Probably a tad overstated there, but I do think Luongo has added a bit of extra “bite” to the centre of the pitch. I think that’s important in the league.

I like Evans, but in my opinion he’s not been at his best for a lot of the season (when he’s not been injured).

think it's shown how far behind he is the others so far and that's no slight on him he's just starting out but we do need some seasoned pros in there atm imo if we are going to try and haul Plymouth back.
