Broadhead 18:21 - Mar 29 with 1487 views | Dyland | Different gravy innit. Creates space and chances, for himself and others. Instinctive and quick witted footballing brain, great technique and a fast shooting trigger. Big target on his head, in terms of oppo roughing him up? I like Harness but do we have anyone currently match fit to step into Chappers and Broady's boots without a significant loss of quality to our attacking play? With all respect to Marcus of course. I guess it's okay as long as both Chaps and Broadsters aren't out for a game or two. Keep them all fit and suspension free, we'll do it. I hate feeling even a tad pessimistic again but look at Wednesday re injuries to key players...

Broadhead on 19:05 - Mar 29 with 1331 views | BleuBlue | I think he’s a very, very good footballer. He’s clever with excellent technique and a knack of scoring goals. What more can anyone ask for? It seems strange that Everton had him on their books for so long yet never utilised him whilst outlaying hundreds of millions on ineffective players. [Post edited 29 Mar 2023 19:06]

I don't disagree re Luongo ba (n/t) on 19:17 - Mar 29 with 1270 views | Dyland |

Broadhead on 19:24 - Mar 29 with 1240 views | BigCommon | Watching his Wales cameo against Latvia his movement was making spaces for others to receive and get shots off...Hes a big jigsaw piece that was missing for us, imo. He has a bit of X factor to help break down low sitting, stubborn defences. I guess we'd have, Harness, Aluko and possibly Humphreys that could be called upon, if needed. And talk of Camara having a run out at Spurs, could mean he's somewhere near the squad now.. Broadhead and Chappers easily our best two 10s though. With those two playing, we effectively have 3 strikers on the pitch.

A rested and refreshed Humphreys can slide back in there, albeit he’s a different kind of player to Luongo.

Take the point but I don’t think it’s a coincidence that our upturn in form corresponds with Luongo coming into the side. No slight on Humphreys intended but at this point in his career he doesn’t offer the physical presence needed in this division whereas Luongo does. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Broadhead on 19:53 - Mar 29 with 1136 views | SomethingBlue | Those two are a class above but we did very well for most of this season without Broadhead so I'm fine if, for example, we rotate him out a little bit in the forthcoming crazy run. He's definitely raised us a notch though, we are clinical from both those No10 positions now and it means we have so much goal threat.

Ah, but we need to maintain the level we've found with the Jan signings to have a chance of chasing down autos, imo anyway. If the team nailed on atm all stay fit and available, we'll do it, imho :)

Of all the arguments I’ve seen to justify the postponement, that’s the best. It’s pointless trying to work out if we’d have had more chance if Barnsley were tired or whatever. It’s undeniable that we are better with Broady and Wes in the team. I know people have gone luke warm on Wes, but his contributions in the recent run have been just as important. Everton have a history, like many PL clubs, of stockpiling young players & keeping them under contract in case they come good. Broadhead is now 24 & if he was going to make it in the PL he'd have had a few more games for Everton by now. Unbelievably, they kept Matthew Pennington under contract until he was 26, by which times he'd played 7 games for then. Callum Connolly stayed under contract there until he was nearly 24. We also had Connor Grant, who stayed under contract at Everton until the same age.

Yeah Everton seem a shambles in that respect. I can’t believe Broadhead couldn’t have done a job for them in the Prem. He’s a classy player for sure.

No, we looked ok with Cam but not like this with Luongo, or as good as with Evans, if we are going to nab an auto spot it is essential we keep Luongo and Morsy fit.

Hopefully this short break would have benefitted someone like Luongo... But Dom Ball has been included in match day squads. Assuming he'll be ready soon then he'd add some steel in DM if Luongo or Morsy needed to dip out. Not ideal, but not a disaster either... But I agree, Luongo has made a hell of a difference to our team.

Think there’s a big drop from Luongo to Cam H atm.

Luke Garbutt was another one - 26 or 27 by the time Everton finally released him, after 6 loans (the final one being at Town.)
