6 trains, loads of old faces, 3 goals and big lump on the shin 22:08 - Apr 22 with 3074 viewsMullet

Not your usual stats, but not always your usual away day that. Good beers, sunshine, superb atmosphere and goals to match. It really feels like this the one lads.

When Wes Burns swept in our first, the weirdest thing about it was that it needed him to pop up at the back post and do so. The move before during and even after it was so us, the goal seemed inevitable more than the first save.

Unlike Walton who's palms got a proper pounding at times, we got a reminder of why Norris for all his talent never progressed beyond this level after leaving us. For any holes in his game, Posh had more all over the pitch.

Taylor had a come and get me ping from distance in the second half, but really for a home side with such a prolific striker it never felt like Walton would be breached. That fella with the double-barrel had nothing on target.

Us however, sweet baby Janoi Donacien. I was so close to the pitch I didn't appreciate how good the pass was from Broadhead to Chaplin. When the little fella kept putting up his big numbers and we all went out of our trees it was lost on me. The Welshman put spin, precision, voodoo on that. It took out so many men the MoD would be interested in buying it if they could.

As for Big Fred. To come on and produce that finish to get the goals he has from so few minutes. Blimey. Proper Ronaldo stuff. Off the chest, falling away and he lashes it in. Scenes or whatever the kids say.

Full time was so Magic it could drag us up single handed. Fanbase feels united, fun and free of the bullsh1t that usually comes with a Town implosion at this point in the season.

Lovely stuff.

Yes, it was good yesterday. Great away support, all three goals at good times and we dealt with Peterborough’s spells of pressure well.

Five points needed, see you at Barnsley.

Absolutely tragic behaviour.

Yes mate, I barely slept last night. Dunno if my train sushi was a bit rum or I was just still excited.

Wish I was doing the home game too now.

Was that behind the goal? I stayed in my seat but it was ace down where we were.

What was the issue?

Pretty much stopped going to away games as I seem to always be amidst the biggest idiotic aggressive pricks, looking for a bust up with anyone who isn't looking for one themselves. Before anyone scoffs, there's a big difference between aggression and passion, between exuberance and intimidation. On the last point, this is among Town fans, not even some faux hooligan jumping up and down saying come on then to a load of Nodge fans behind a police cordon.

It's fooking pathetic.

The tragic thing is these are not even properly fighty people, just gobshytes, who'd probably stop it if anyone vaguely hard had a word.

….didn’t see what started it, but at a guess I’d say it was the throwing around of beer, which is a ridiculous practice.

It was a proper dust up.

I even had to move a couple of yards to my right to avoid it. Inconvenient.

Not totally surprising given the state some people were turning up in pre-match. I stayed in my seat at half-time so missed all that.

Some people really don’t know when to stop. A bloke a few seats along my row spent half time and the entire second half slumped in his seat with head in his hands. Don’t think he had a clue we’d scored. We even had to jump over a row of seats to get past him on the way out.

Doesn't appeal to me. Can't see the logic or the fun, maybe just a maturoty or inexperience thing too. Hard to know your limits until you go past it I guess.

Just for the sake of balance, some of the very best away days I've had, have been when the whole away end have been leathered.

Cov (Highfield Rd, 2003, won 4-2 after being 2-0 down at HT)
QPR (2004, Darren Currie debut)
Charlton 2015 (Noel Hunt, midday kick-off too)
Southend 2019 (Jackson/ Norwood; Hermann on the Southend bench with Sol Campbell, weirdly)

Not really relevant to the wider point being made, I suppose.

I didn't go yesterday; really wish I had now, looked bloody brilliant.

1995 to around 2010 were generally cracking away days for me, not that I went to more than three or four a season.

Maybe I'm just old and crabby now. Or maybe people are less well mannered? I don't know many people who are physically aggressive even after drinking enough to down an army, snorted enough to get the army back on their feet, and popped enough pills to have em bouncing out of their graves. Sweary? Sure. Incapable and pushy? Yeh, but with a genial smile. Gobshyte frothing divs? Not for me buh.

It’s got worse since Covid imo. The new intake of youngsters seem to have a lot of scrotes in their cohort. But it’s not just them - plenty of middle aged blokes acting like dicks too.

At HT a bloke pretty much climbed over me to get ahead in the queue for a beer, arm came out and held my spot, he spent a few mins asking why I was so desperate to get a beer (the irony) then as I turned with beers in hand, and crisp packet in mouth, he took his chance to push the back of my head 😂… kind of respected the pettiness

I started noticing it at Watford, around 2014/15 maybe. I think it's mainly me tbh :)

If these people were vaguely funny their aggressive bumptiousness would be more tolerable, but they are witless to a man.

It was and getting a few in you before and after a game is fine, and you can have some top days on it. Seems too many can't do that without making the day all about them though. Think that's the politest way of putting it.

Agreed.

I used to go to a fair few of the more accessible away days, but the way they've turned out to be these days has put me off entirely.

I'd much rather go somewhere like Bolton or Exeter these days and have a fun day out, despite the long drive, than have to endure the 'joys' of a London away day both on the train and in the stadium.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.
