League One looks like a horror show next season. 15:23 - May 30 with 2676 viewshype313

So glad we're out of it, even though the Championship is going to be a hard gig.

Every time I see a pic of League One and see the badges of Derby, Portsmouth and Reading, I get slightly teary eyed. Magical.

Poll: An interesting day for our politicians, but which one is worse?

It's probably weaker having lost Ipswich, Wednesday and Plymouth and inherited Wigan who are a basket case and will start on -X points and relying on youth players. Blackpool aren't much better.

Champ will be stronger. It's quite rare that 2/3 of the relegated clubs finish midtable. Unlikely to happen again this year.

Not gonna lie, I'd be fairly happy with good old 15th, next season.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

I think the Championship and L1 will be no stronger or weaker. They’ll rumble along in the same old way. Will Southampton, Leeds and Leicester be strong? Possibly. They may have £100m but they also have huge liabilities and rubbish teams.

How will Norwich and other clubs with parachute money go? Well they were garbage this year. Some clubs like QPR have been going down the pan for months, WBA are in financial trouble, Rotherham and Plymouth look light on resources, but when it comes down to it, it’ll be the same old good, bad, ugly mix.

How will we do? No idea, but really looking forward to it.

League One? Derby and Barnsley are my tips with possibly someone like Orient piling in to the party.

i realise it could sound like sour grapes (as I'm a Colchester supporter) but I don't think the teams that went up from League 2 were particularly strong. Mansfield, Stockport and even Gillingham (with their new cash) would have improved L1 more.

All 3 of the relegated clubs should be strong and if you're talking about challengers its fair to include them all in the conversation. They'll lose players but they'll still kick off the season with very good starting XI's. However it's also reasonable to think at least 1 of them won't adjust particularly well and will struggle for top 6. Calling which one of the 3 that is is hard right now though.

This thread makes me realise I am looking forward to following League One next season - especially if we start well enough that I don't fear us revisiting it! (FWIW, I expect us to finish top half...)

I thought last season's L1 top half, looked equally tough, pre season. There were a good 10 sides in with a realistic shout of promotion, imo. And had the likes of Oxford and MKD performed anywhere near previous seasons, it would have been even tougher, for everyone.
I can see Derby, Barnsley and Posh having a good go next season. Largely dependant on any comings and goings in the window. And whether or not Barnsley can hang on to Duff.
