General question on players' wages 09:07 - Jul 14 with 1513 views | GavTWTD | Do players' wages automatically increase on promotion? I would have thought its a specific clause requested when a player joins and may vary from player to player.

General question of players' wages on 09:10 - Jul 14 with 1480 views | Keno | are you 'asking for a friend"? hinting that as the leading technician, research and development analysis, refreshment provider for a championship board you deserve an extra packet of hobnob? The actual answer is it probably depends on individual players contracts, same as a relegation clause in case any Norwich fans are viewing

General question on players' wages on 09:26 - Jul 14 with 1381 views | CityBlue | The norm for players on promotion is to seek contract extension (with renewed clauses and increase pay in line with club stature and potential). Clever clubs will look to secure player signatures if they know they will promote to avoid potential free transfers following promotion etc.

General question on players' wages on 09:54 - Jul 14 with 1281 views | nodge_blue | I think its pretty standard for promotion and relegation clauses to be in contracts now. Do you remember when we got relegated from the premiership and no one had a relegation clause and consequently no reduction in wages. Sheepy said at the time that this wasn't a thing and if he had written one in that no one would have signed it. I always felt that the players could have maybe voluntarily taken one to save us from administration but of course in reality that was unlikely to happen.

Most players get a promotion bonus, only some would have a guaranteed pay rise. Clubs will want to see whether the player is able to step up to the new level and will only want to offer better terms to those that are able to successfully bridge the gap.
