Can't see past Trusty currently, but that'll be a hard deal to do, even more so if he's impressed Arsenal in the US.

Burgess is a favourite of mine. Absolutely superb season and his improvement was staggering. But also worth noting he was superb in a side that had a +66 goal different that blew everyone away. I'm not as confident a level up he's anything more than decent, but would love to be proved wrong.

Trusty though, with his age, profile etc seems exactly the sort of signing we'd make. Hopefully if he has a choice, the USA link might just make this feel like home.

I rated Fridge as a top League One defender, but still seem to rate him a lot lower than most. Given his injury record as well, I wouldn't be shocked to see us move on, which is a shame as he was a rock when he first came in on his correct side. But he's a liability in a system that passes the way we do when he's on his wrong side and he's not forcing Wolfy out.

So I wouldn't be shocked at all to see Cathcart come in either in the Keogh role, albeit Cathcart may be a harder sell as he really should be starting at this level.

KMc has already said we aren't looking for any CB's just to pad out the squad, so thats Cathcart out of it. He's only interested in improving on what we have, which suggests the injuries aren't particulary serious.

Trusty could happen, but thats the level of player we are looking at, not lower.

Cathcart has played 5 of the last 7 seasons in the Premier League, played 30 odd times last season in the Championship. As much as I love Wolfy and think he might be a better fit for our system, it would be hard to argue he's a better defender overall than Cathcart.

Trusty won player of the season at Birmingham and has gone on tour with Arsenal. He's an upgrade on Burgess all day long.

I agree we won't pad the squad out but given we have two quality players for every position, I wouldn't be at all surprised if we brought in a left and right sided centre half to go with Wolf and Burgess and we looked to move Edmundson on.

Wolfie is only 24. Plenty for McKenna to work with.
Cathcart is 34.

He's also been a free agent for weeks now. If we wanted him, I'm sure he'd already be here.

I could be surprised on deadline though. - See also Ahadme.

Ciran Clark

Experienced, which I think we need at the back, free, good professional that I imagine will enjoy being part of tbe group

I'd like Trustly too

Poll: Will Phil ever confirm we are actually close on a signing ever again

Pretty obvious that if a deal for Trusty could be done it would be tremendous. No one is putting Burgess down especially after the great end he had last season but if we can improve we will .

I think an experienced CB at this level (or above) would be good.

I know our defence was very good towardsw the end of last season, but a lot of the time, they weren't put under mjuch pressure, or we were 3-0 up so not so much pressure to concede.

Obviously this season should be a lot different so it will be interesting to see how many of them can make the step up.

Trusty would be amazing, but possibly just out of reach.

Matt Clarke?

I think we missed a trick by not getting Sonny Bradley. Personally I would go for experience over youth.

I am working on the basis that we are trying not to block the pathway for Baggot on the left therefore as heir to Burgess we must be looking at an experienced head or a short term loan to compete for the LCB position, or who could potentially cover RCB as required.

Experience. We definitely need someone at the back. Edmundson is always injured, that means we have to rely on Ball or JD as cover. If that was long term l don’t think it would work.

I don’t think he made true squad in their first tour game last night against MLS all stars. Looks like they used a lot of subs so perhaps encouraging for us if getting no game time?
