Like a snooker table top - it was actually so smooth & close cut it looked like a piece of green baize.

Edit - oops, that was from watching the Sky stream, I was unable to go, soz.

Superb!

The blue edging really made the pitch stand out and you could see that the ball was moving much quicker.

Thought the whole stadium looked so much better than a few years ago.
Lovely to see.

I thought the pace of the pitch caught a few of our players out at times on Weds. it was REALLY heavily watered too. Sometimes the hall just flew out of play as soon as the ball hit the ground. I hope our first team gets a couple of sessions on the pitch b4 Saturdays game.

It looked great and the new pop out sprinklers were very fancy. It did seem to play far too fast and at times the players struggled to control (and catch up with) the ball. It'll be interesting to see how the players on Saturday cope.

Agree but this means once we do get a grip of it visiting teams could really struggle?!

Im not so sure this is the case, the players have been training on this style of pitch at playford road for some time already.

I did wonder that myself.

That said, all we've done with the new pitch (as I understand it) is bring our pitch up to the same level as most of the PL and Championship now. So Stoke, for example, would already have a lot of experience of this type of pitch I would imagine.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

to be honest, there was some areas where the grass obviously looked like it needed more time but the bounce seemed more predictable and stable across the field and their was evident backspin on the ball at times from deep lobs which helped Jackson when chasing some of those passes (notable difference in tactics with both Evans and Ball sending long balls to the corners).
