Question for those that were there yesterday 09:49 - Sep 3 with 2314 viewsFrimleyBlue

Was the Cardiff goal chalked off for offside or was it that the ball went out then curled back in from the actual corner....

Player was in an off side position for the initial shot that Vas saved but not interfering with pla - until hit took the rebound.

Didn’t look offside on a quick replay. Think we got lucky with that one.

Correct, although I thought the initial save was from a header. At that point the (non) scorer was offside but as Vaz saves it Morsy is moving back towards the goal and between the (non scorer) and Vaz. Some fans are viewing that as he Cardiff player is onside, but it's at the point of the initial header that counts in the rules, the lino got that decision correct.

Offside. Original effort would’ve counted I think.

I was right in line with it but it happened to quick couldn’t tell!

I was annoyed because there was big roar and clap for the save which suddenly died when the ball went in.

I think he's level from the header, but moving back from an offside position so it's very tight.

Thought from Alex Griffin’s video last night he looked level. Think we would be unhappy to have one that close chalked off.

Linesman's decision VAR-esque in its precision.

Offside.

Was an unbelievable save, Hladky my MOTM yesterday.

On the highlights it is clear that he was offside at the point of the first header, linesman is in line and can clearly see. Flag does not go up until after he puts the ball in so no question of it being for the ball going out of play.

Further observations having watched the extended highlights:

Cardiff were very lucky on their second goal with where the double rebound fell at their player's feet.

Ladapo closing down the keeper led to us gaining possession for our first goal. His goals were real striker's poaching getting in exactly the right positions for them.

Hladky made some great saves once again. He is greatly improved from a couple of seasons ago where he didn't look good enough from the little I saw of him at that time.

The Cardiff player was off the ground so the fact he looks level from that angle means he was actually off.

The assistant referee was perfectly placed to see and flagged him off.

It really was. Overshadowed a bit at the time by the disallowed goal, but it was one hell of a stop. Woukd like to see a better angle of it from the south stand end

I was in upper SBR and thought there was no way Hladky would save it given where it was heading.

Rookie error there. If you draw the line between Morsy and Clarke instead, he's clearly offside
