Caught in Chiswick.

To be fair, horrendous attempt at trying to go on the run, bloke had four days and only travelled seven miles.

Good job though Met Police.

Escaped from prison all the same - not a common event. Doesn’t show the prison service in a good light.

Obviously there is loads to this story that may not make the public domain but he still got out…

Fair play to the lad in how he got out, but he failed badly thereafter in not getting out of London, on a trailer or something..

Superb effort to escape prison

We were led to believe that he was some sort of criminal mastermind who would be thousands of miles away by now.

Managed to give the government a handy diversion for a few days, though.

Mission accomplished from that aspect.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

I would expect he had help once on the outside. It is pretty pointless being hundreds of miles away if there is no help.

Lie low, then make arrangements to get out of the country. No use sorting out stuff until you are out.

I would expect any person being held on terror charges would have all his family, close friends etc known, so it may well have been simply checking all those ie their addresses.

I would not have thought his escape was planned and sorted out by any foreign agency. Too small to risk blowing the cover of others/lines of escape etc.

Ronnie Barker & Richard Beckinsale did it better though.

I live about halfway between Wandsworth and Chiswick, so just going out to check the shed to see if he spent a night in there!

Makes you wonder how many more terrorists and Iranian spies are serving in the armed forces.

To lie low would have been handy. Except he appeared to be out for a stroll in the sun and was talking to dog walkers. He doesn’t sound the brightest - hard to believe he was a spy (or at least a half way competent one).

I would put Steptoe and Son against that

Two prisoners, who broke out of the Scrubs, find themselves at the Steptoes house - however things there that night are so wretched, the couple end up breaking back into the nick

"What can you see Fletch?"

"Cops."

"What, you mean a small wooded area?"

"Yeah, a small wooded area full of cops."

To be fair, he was only on a bike.

Although he must have been a pretty poor cyclist to have only managed 7 miles in 4 days.

There was someone on the news a couple of days ago confidently stating that as he was a trained British soldier he would be very resourceful and therefore difficult to catch.

Not sure being captured riding a bike on a canal tow path a few miles from the prison you escaped from fits that description.
