We've been more fluent and, yes, it may have been a good time to catch Saints. But what a distillation of ITFC under McKenna that was – technically and tactically so secure, physically lungbusting, such an absolutely tremendous effort and such a joy to watch. In an electric atmosphere from pretty much 1-90 too. No idea how far this goes but let's just enjoy it, it's a special time, and one of the real pleasures is that whether we win, lose or draw on Saturday you can be 100% sure we will approach the task with exactly the same focus, verve and resilience.

Been thinking about McKenna's comments on Hutchinson – telling him he can be one of the best off the ball even if it didn't come naturally. Imagine, then, being the player in question and scoring a winner like that, at a venue like that, by displaying precisely the traits your manager has drilled into you. Imagine being another player in the squad and watching that. When your manager is trying to convince you of something and you see it come true like that, it's one of the most powerful things in football. The trust the players have in McKenna must be absolutely extraordinary by now, he barely misses a beat.

You know what... I've finally forgiven you for that Lambert comment and will never bring it up again...

It's an absolute joy being able to go into games knowing that there is next to no chance we are going to be playing a side that are better coached than us, better drilled than us or have a manager that is going out think McKenna when it comes to in-game management.

You watch players like Hutchinson, Scarlett, Clarke, Davis, Woolfy, Hirst, Broadhead, Chaplin, Williams and you can only see them getting better under McKenna and this coaching team as this season goes on.

I really don't want to get too carried away but I am struggling not to. I simply cannot see this side going on any sort of sustained bad run (i.e more than a couple of games). We've built up a really healthy lead over several clubs you'd expect to challenge already and we aren't going to be overthrown without a real fight.

i envy those of you that can go to games week in week out. If i was more local i would have signed up for a season ticket after McKenna's 1st few months, he's that good. This isn't going to last forever as McKenna will be getting bigger offers, if we can somehow sneak up this year we probably have a chance to keep him for a few more years if not i think clubs will be kicking the door down to get to him.

He's going to be a very good premier league manager, he's the best thing to happen to us since we got Burley through the door.

Thingers how much longer are we likely to keep McK if this carries on, I’m terrified

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!
Poll: With Evans taking 65% in Huddersfield, is the Banter Era over?

He is. But McKenna has a much higher ceiling than Burley, who you never thought was a target for the big clubs. Even when we finished 5th in the PL.

It's a good question, I think people have very much clocked exactly what is going on at Town now, we will definitely come under pressure next summer if we don't go up. I guess the proof will be in how he does higher up but for me it's not idiotic to compare him with someone like Nagelsmann.

They will have clocked what’s going on at Town and Premier clubs will start chasing McKenna. But there are a number of elements to this.

McKenna has bought in to what is happening here along with his coaches. It’s going to take a club the size of Tottenham to prize him away. He will be able to pick and choose so why would he bother with a lower level PL club? Money? He’s going to earn enough of that anyway so his will be purely a ‘career’ move, unless he falls out with Ashton and co.

Secondly, it mustn’t be forgotten that nothing is built without foundations. If the club is set up right, the rest will follow. Thats what is happening. It’s why Brighton are doing so well despite being robbed of managers and star players. The contrast is Southampton and Wednesday. They look a mess, especially SW. You need a magic wand if you are to succeed in messes like that.

Lastly, McKenna going will be a very very sad day, but if the club is right, it’ll keep moving forwards. There’s something literally irresistible about us at the moment and it is more than just KMs fine work.

I am just enjoying the moment. There is a lot to enjoy and look forward to.

Yes, your third paragraph is the key – stable ownership that doesn't waver from its principles and maintains an identity without compromise. It's exactly the key at Brighton and was for a while at Swansea until they tied themselves in knots.

Indeed. Marcus Evans could have done that with his budget had he given any sort of sh1t about the club. It wouldn’t be where we are now but it definitely wouldn’t have been how we spent Summer 2018 to McK’s appointment.
