Shout out to George Hirst last night. 11:35 - Oct 4 with 1110 viewsSitfcB

His performance deserved a goal along with his assist but even without one he played really well, runs for days and love his little bursts of pass.

Intelligent press play and not just running too.

It's the positioning of his runs and when to press which is impressive.

Likewise his performance at Huddersfield the other day.

Works really hard for the team, knows his role and you can see he's another one who is loving playing in this squad.

You're correct Hirst's running and pressing of the back line was incredible and carried on right until his substitution - a total shift

Not sure if you saw the Chappers interview on Town TV, he talked about the instructions and approach for the Town attackers. and it was simply don't stop in that second half, run yourself into the ground, and then you're 'mates' will come on and takeover

I loved his use of mates, one team, one group, one squad

Rosenior was full of praise for Hirst. Said he was the biggest difference. He deserves a hoal or two sometime soon.

His movement for the third goal was pure class. Pulled the defender out of position then went the other way, really brilliant centre forward play. He gives so much to the team, would love him to get a goal on Saturday as his performances have been top drawer and he deserves a goal.

Interesting that his match rating of 7.6 from fans on this site is the lowest of all 11 of our starters. I suppose someone has to be the lowest.

I'm not sure there was a moment where he was particularly unlucky not to score, so I wouldn't say he deserved a goal, but his assist was excellent play, and I thought he played his part and did his job well. I think it's easy to forget that when someone is playing as a lone striker, it is /even more/ important that he performs in the non-scoring aspects of his role, as Hirst has been doing.

Because he's the lone striker, I think there's a sort of in-built assumption on the part of some fans that he is the guy who should be getting the goals, and when he's not that means he's not doing his job. He's still young-ish, is still capable of improving under KMac and I think given that we were not prepared to get involved in £7m or even £10m+ bids, the acquisition of Hirst was as good as we could reasonably have hoped for.

I thought he was exceptional last night. We played off his energy, such a good talisman for us.

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…
