Blue monday do the 99/00 vs 23/24 team debate 22:33 - Oct 11 with 1569 views | BondiBlue | I liked the rules - you have to pick one of the systems. Got me thinking. Which player (from either team) are you so set on having in your combined team that it dictates which system you use? For example, stewart probably doesn't work as mckenna's number 9 so if you want him, you'd kind of need to go with burley's system and give him a strike partner (and probably a scowcroft/hirst type). Someone like matt holland would be fine in either system.

At the moment it's simple for me. The class of 2000 are Gods and still to this day gave me my best memories ever for ITFC. In 3 years that might change but from 1999 - 2001 for instance they were absolutely outrageous and played football way above the levels of most.

Maybe it wouldn’t work. The only other player from that 00 side who would challenge for a starting spot for me would be Holland, and even he might not get in. Both Taricco and Dyer would be in, but they’d left by then of course.
Blue monday do the 99/00 vs 23/24 team debate on 11:11 - Oct 12 with 1265 views | itfcjoe | I came up with a couple of teams - one for each system....but like the guys found we were pretty weak at RB comparatively, and difficult to fit the players in to each of the other formations......I ended up with a hybrid style like this: ---------------------------Wright------------------- ----WIlliams------Woolfenden----Venus---------- ---------------Holland----Morsy------Clapham -----------------------------------Broadhead--------- --Scowcroft-------Chaplin------------------------ ------------------------Johnson---------------------- Bit funky but think it would work and gets as many good players in their best positions whilst being eligible under the rules (6 x 2000, 5 x 2024) with McKenna to manage. Clapham and Davis to play half each

Could always turn it into 96-97 town vs 23/24 town.

Kids today will be asking who this Clapham guy is… but oh my, I loved him, from his rugby shaped head to his Fila boots. Hero

If Burley and McKenna got into a fight, I imagine it would be a terribly gentlemanly affair. Probably queensbury rules, quite a bit of apologising when a blow was struck and the pair of them walking off at the end declaring that honour was satisfied for both parties.

He was so good in our first PL season, ended the key player for me with regards to what shape we played - LB, LWB, LM, LCM in a 3 - and was superb everywhere. Most underrated player of that era
