I can't believe that the whole of the football world... 12:37 - Oct 20 with 2628 viewsNthQldITFC

...seems to have missed the 30th anniversary yesterday of that famous Norfolkian night in Munich (not Dortmund) in front of a very nearly quarter full stadium. Was Look East extended last night?

Similarly, it was the 10th anniversary of us losing 1-0 at home to Burnley, which didn't get a mention anywhere, as far as I can see.

Edit: Yes, Munich, not Dortmund.

Presumably it was in Munich rather than Dortmund?

To be fair to them it's a good achievement to beat Bayern away and knock them out of the cup, but it's actually laughable that its commemorated like it is when you consider it was the 2nd round. They went on to be knocked out in the 3rd. Actual lols.

It seems to them to be the pinnacle of their success though, so they're gonna go on about it. I'd say Lambert's double promotion was more impressive but hey ho.

I think because it was against a big foreign team there's deemed more prestige to it than it being an FA cup 2nd round win against a top English team for example, not that there should be. Bayern had finished 2nd to Werder Bremen the year prior, hence them being in the UEFA cup and not the European Cup.

SECOND ROUND FFS!

After each leg it was headline news the following day on Anglia and Look East.

Jeremy Goss certainly had a memorable half season to earn legendary status at that club.

That BM team was in a transitory period if my memory serves me right though. Nothing like the level of their previous sides. Bit sad really coz narwich don’t hold any store by “ history” do they. It’s not relevant according to them.

But that did contribute to their overall European record which reads P6 W2 D2 L2 F6 A4. Impressive stuff.

I thought that their dismissal of history was not so much in the "not relevant category", but more consigned to the "not applicable" box.

As it should be when a small club participates well.

We are still the only East Anglian team to play in Europe this century and we were relegated in 2002. What does that say about Norwich's "dominant" period? Pretty powder puff.

Don't forget that we've played as many European games whilst in the second division as that.
