Can't work out if McKenna will be happy with that or not. Seemed to be a lot going wrong tactically from their opener, to Hladky seeming to have to do all the defending for a spell at the end.

Thought the lad from Villa was their standout player by some length and we let them in at the back and let them off with some of our forward play. Westlake was really laying into Hutchinson for a lack of end product but I thought he was excellent overall. That development we're seeing makes me want to sign him.

Once Davis was moved up the pitch we really opened them up too. Thought the direct goal from Hirst was a good example of why you need to be able to have plan B in games where lesser teams defend narrow and look to break on us.

Lots of good, lots of stuff we might wonder if it was just how things broke or a touch of complacency in some moves. Harness once again making a massive difference, not just scoring but directing us into the corners and taking the sting out of extra time.

Felt like we made that far harder than it needed to be and it's hard to say why.

Plymouth have quality going forward. Schumacher stifled us a bit, Broadhead and Chaplin not as influential as normal. Hutch has so much talent and the end ptoduct will get better and better. The drop off when Hirst is spent is significant. Thought Ladapo would have come on. Scarlett has undoubted ability but not sure he is the right man for that lone role, it just doesn’t stick enough. I think we will look for another striker, maybe a loan in January and Scarlett may be a reserve 10.

KM noticeably p!ssed off after we scored our second. He will not have been happy with that display which is fantastic. We will sign some real reinforcement in Jan as the lads are tiring which is understandable.

Hutchinson did well, but he would have learned a lot, looking at Plymouth's wingers today, as their wingers get in behind with pace and pulled the ball back a bit better than we did... Some of our build up play looked a bit tentative and ponderous.. was hoping Hutchinson would blitz them on the outside like they did in the latter stages of the 2nd half

We really missed Burns today. And this week. Great that the team can work around this though.

We were playing against a team which were very quick on the break. A thing we find it hard to defend, particularly when pushing forward ourselves.

I think McKenna will be happy with some of it, not with other bits. I doubt he is ever 100% happy with a performance, there is always something which can be worked on or tightened up.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Loads of lessons to be learnt from that game Mullet

Think it was a team who had our number somewhat and other teams will start to get to that place

I do think we had a long spell on top when 1-0 down, where we looked the better team, but their defensive line was just excellent.

Plymouth impressed me.

Davis is excellent going forward but today at least he was quite woeful at the back. Turned inside out.

Training Ground.. get him 1-1 with hutchinson for 3 hour sessions.

a niche perspective

That long spell had much to do with them moving to a low block once ahead.

I thought it wasn't so much they stifled us as they were just really negative and hoped to force a mistake. Something we were happy to oblige with too often.

A few people were unhappy with Scarlett, but my theory is we need totally different service. We can hoof it to Hirst and we can play it into feet, but Scarlett is a bit like Jackson that he probably needs us to slide it through the channels.

Really like Ladapo but it seems obvious he's the first player we will upgrade on in the window if we can.

It has been a tough start for Scarlett. Clearly no chance of first team at Spurs yet so don't understand why the deal was so late in the window. Being cup tied hasn't helped - strange move by Spurs. He's left with cameo roles and is never going to start ahead of Hirst in a league encounter. Agree, he needs us to play differently but that’s not easy as Hirst is so integral to the style of the team. It's a bit like Murphy and Pitman. We seemed to want Pitman to replace Murphy as a like for like and it was never going to work. Seems clear to me we will be looking to strengthen up top in January. If the Simms stuff had any substance, we tried in the summer.
