They're lucky that the three below them look odds on for relegation

I'd love to see them do well, despite our 'rivalry' last season.

Just shows how well we've done this season, perhaps how unlucky we were not to go up top last season that the other 2 promoted sides are currently in the bottom 4

They’re going through a bad patch but I think they’ll be ok. They just need to be patient. There’s a lot of mediocrity in the Championship. Wednesday though are a different level. Awful from the top down. Their new manager will poke a bit of life into them but they’re pretty much done already. I don’t think Rotherham or QPR are much better so the ineptitude of those three should see Argyle alright.

I've been reliably told Plymouth are still playing some good stuff as it happens Geoff, slick on the ball but a bit at sea in the defensive third. They've got their #1 keeper back now and I think there are definitely three sides worse than them overall, even if there aren't five or six! Next weekend could be another great ding dong unless Schumacher tries to be weird (he's very capable of being that).

I'm really looking forward to the game on Sat and hope we can finally put one over on them. As you say, Cooper is back from injury, he was outstanding for them in L1. I wish them well other than against us.

I think we've gone up a level since we last played them and they needed a deflected last minute goal to get a draw against us then. Without wanting to be overconfident, I fancy us to beat them pretty handily.

Yes they are still playing good football and will be fine in my opinion.

They scored so many late goals and won games by single goal margins last season. Take nothing away from their title win, it was exceptional. But the champ is a decent step up and closed those small margins for them.

They didn't have teams parking the bus like we did. If anything the champ has opened up more attacking options for us.

The situation at QPR might depend on who they replace Ainsworth with, which is surely likely to happen sooner than later you’d have to think?

The trouble is with QPR that the mess stems from the top of the club. They’ve had managers come and go in recent years to no effect and that tells its own story.

It’s a similar situation to Sheffield Wednesday. Unless the club is ‘right’, you are going to be very lucky if you get somebody who can do anything much.

We of all people know that after watching Evans let this club nearly die. Ok he wheeled in a load of mugs to manage the team which didn’t help, bar MM, but even with McCarthy there was a ceiling on what could be achieved in that mess.

The contrast is ourselves now and then. McKenna is doing a fantastic job, but he can only do it because of the environment he’s working in. If you parachuted him into QPR or Sheffield Weds would he do so well? It’d be pretty much impossible for him in my view.

Back to Ainsworth, I’m not a huge fan. I couldn’t care a less that he ludicrously dresses like mid-life crisis man - that’s his problem. I just don’t like the way his teams play and I’m not a fan of the circle the wagons tactics he and other managers deploy. Ok sometimes it’s necessary but for me it has its limitations and frankly it’s boring.

GA though is handicapped by what he inherited and what money he has available - none. I’d be surprised if the binned him. He’s perfect to get them out of L1 on a limited budget and in any case, who would they get to replace him who’d be more effective?

Oh for sure Herbs I'm not suggesting us as one of the three or six worse than them! 😂

Without speculating on scorelines too much as I'm a superstitious sort, my thinking behind it being action-packed at both ends is because Plymouth are 2nd for shots on target this season and we are 1st. They've not struggled going forwards but they've been carved open at the back, so if they bring that swashbuckling style to PR it will make for another great event.

Their 0-0 against West Brom was the antithesis of this though and may point to a change of approach since the international break.

A credible draw away at WBA yesterday.... Their home form has been a bit shaky of late.
I had SW, QPR and Plymouth as my 3 relegation teams, pre season...
Think Plymouth have more goals in them than some of the other teams down there., having seen a few games now. They should stay up. But they could do with a win, to stop the rot..

Yep, my football foresight is spot on yet again!! Not.

I stand by the query re who QPR are going to get to replace Ainsworth. The want Warnock of course. On a separate note, it was nice to see Andre Dozzell showing a bit of fight yesterday- literally. He wasn’t having any of it from that bloke. Good for him, even if it did mean an early bath. Scored a cracking goal too.
