Brighton: just 3 wins in 16 league games on 00:57 - Jan 31 with 2866 views | bournemouthblue | Probably not surprising given they now have those dreaded Thursday night games you get with those minor European cups? That seems to mess most PL teams up that play in it?

Brighton: just 3 wins in 16 league games on 06:04 - Jan 31 with 2716 views | ITFC_Forever | There’s a long running theory that Di Zerbi isn’t all he’s cracked up to be, and his success with them to date is simply the run-off from Potter’s good work. I’m inclined to agree.

they also lost their central midfield in the summer. Even if you are very good at recruitment losing players of their quality is tough to replace like for like. The players they got in might not be to their level yet and they are having to develop them.

Absolutely this. You can only keep selling your best players and replace with promising youngsters for so long. Being over stretched with European football and a relatively thin squad has also taken its toll.

Disagree. I believed Potter was overhyped. Potter had Brighton as a standard mid table side for a few of seasons, but De Zerbi came in and progressed them which has led them to where they are now. Potter was found out at Chelsea.

Not only did they lose Caicedo and MacAllister, but add Trossard who I know went in January, but he did get goals. Enciso and Estupinan injuries haven't helped either as they're technically good players. They're doing really well when you weigh it all up.

Taking Brighton to a mid table Premier League team was excellent work, and nothing to do with over hype. De Zerbi did a superb job last season but is fortunate the Premier League is so weak this year; otherwise Brighton might be in a similar position to us in 01/02.

Yes that was, but then he hit that ceiling. When he left for Chelsea, people said Brighton would drop back off but instead they grew. That's a big might given Brighton are as close to 2nd as they are the relegation zone.

For me, no question De Zerbi is better than Potter. I just think Potter does deserve credit for what he did with Brighton.

Premier League weak? Stronger this season than in a number of previous years.

That sounds similar to Trump claiming the U.S. economy is thriving right now because it’s running off the fumes of his presidency.

If McKenna left Town, I would be quite happy with Potter as a replacement.

Potter was found out at Chelsea?? Yeah, because Poch has really got a tune out of that side! Potter had an absolutely impossible task on his hands at Chelsea with the ridiculous amount of signings and squad turnover

Potter should wait for a stable Prem club or the England job IMO. Dropping down would be a big risk for him.

Making the right career choice is important. Town could easily be another Brighton if the right structure & funding was in place. Yes, he may prefer a job at a middling PL club like West Ham & like many, he probably prefers to move in the summer, rather than take on someone else's squad in a fire-fighting role.

Everton, Forest, Burnley, Sheffield United aren’t great. Luton are admittedly punching above their weight. Then the likes of Palace, Bournemouth, Wolves, Brentford and Fulham can struggle to hit a cow’s backside with a banjo at times. Man Utd, Newcastle and Brighton have shown signs of a European hangover, Poch is struggling to get a tune out of Chelsea, West Ham veer from brilliant woeful and Spurs are still adapting to the way Postecoglu wants to play. Villa have wobbled of late though had a strong first half of the season. That just leaves the top three. Not impressed, overall, TBH.
