The problems today can't be pinned on Jackson.
Preston have closed us down very well, given us no time of the ball, and our control and passing has been poor.
As it is, we've struggled in the first half of many of our away games, but normally been close enough to turn it round in the second half. But 3-0 down is a real challenge. [Post edited 3 Feb 2024 15:58]

Yep, no real fault of his own (though him failing to take that pass in then falling over and swiping the defender's legs away was comically bad) but Jackson's got to come off for Moore. Any hope of getting anything back requires him to act as a big focal point to try and play off.
Agree - think Hutchinson's trickery probably works better now. Sarmiento looks like he's trying too hard but maybe give him 10/15 mins to see if he can pull something from nothing.
Generally we just need to wake up - we've been so pedestrian on the ball and a bit timid off it whereas Preston have been fully switched on and are making us look stupid. The officials have had howlers for the first two but Clarke waiting for ages then passing to Morsy when he's under severe pressure for the first goal has summed up our approach that half. |  |

Indeed. In a more open game, jackson will wear down the opposition and be a threat behind, but they are sitting deep when we have the ball, and thats not his game. | | | |
