Nope, should have been an indirect free-kick to Preston on the edge of the 6-yard box (but no card).
But why tho. He's recieved the back pass and twice touched the ball with his foot.. so he's technically done the correct thing and used his foot.. Surely the hand bit is a different phase?

That’s not how it works, otherwise keepers could just flick all back passes up and catch them.

H might have got away with it because the ref thought the Preston guy had touched it though... he didn't but he didn't see the foul in the first goal so his eyesight might not be up to much,😉🤣

The assistant referees not being able to see when the ball obviously went of play was a shock as well.
That’s only if the keeper tries to kick the ball to a team mate, Hladky was trying to turn with the ball.
It should have been an IFK and red card for DOGSO.
Indirect free kick only.
"If the goalkeeper handles the ball inside their penalty area when not permitted to do so, an indirect free kick is awarded but there is no disciplinary sanction."

2nd phase when he clears it or attempts to. He touched it with his foot, but not in at attempt to clear it - he seemed to be trying to claw it back to himself. You are not, for instance, allowed to trap the ball with a foot then pick it up.

Looks like you’re correct but I think a caution for unsporting behaviour would be expected in that case.

Why would it be expected when the rules explicitly state there should been no disciplinary action taken.
That’s stated only in the case of a handball. DOGSO has a different definition which states no red card but not no sanction. It’s hard to deny that it was unsporting.

This was a handled backpass for which there is a specific law that doesn't define if it denys a goal scoring opportunity or not though. The law for handled backpasses states no disciplinary action is to be taken, not it's at the referees discretion.

Just to confirm, the full quote outlines the only circumstance where a goalkeeper may face disciplinary action for handling the ball inside their box.
"If the goalkeeper handles the ball inside their penalty area when not permitted to do so, an indirect free kick is awarded but there is no disciplinary sanction. However, if the offence is playing the ball a second time (with or without the hand/arm) after a restart before it touches another player, the goalkeeper must be sanctioned if the offence stops a promising attack or denies an opponent or the opposing team a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity."
Most back-pass infringements are desperate attempts to protect the goal after an error. Just forgetfully picking it up may have been more common in the 90s/00s.
