I guess some junior official is tasked today with laying out 760 little squares of paper, having snipped them all up, and trying to arrange them with the dates for the fixtures. Probably stopping for a slice of toast around 11 am, getting butter on the ends of his/her fingers and getting some of the squares stuck together. Or a tea lady opens the door and a draft blows half the squares across the room. Tough job. |  |

Interesting. I wonder what all the questions they put on the form for clubs are. I also wonder if the premier league fixture list takes account of EFL games. There was a bit in there about partner clubs with who teams cannot clash. I'd assume that Nodge would be ours. My father, a school Deputy Head, used to do something similar to sort out timetables for the coming year, in the era before reasonably powerful home computers. Remember him having a large wooden board with grooves across it, into which he would slot small pieces of card with lessons written on them, to test out the possible combinations. Took ages. |  |

They have to do stuff like making sure that the 2 Manchester clubs don't play in Manchester on the same weekend unless it's against themselves.
There are similar considerations for other clubs in places like London and Liverpool.
Then there are the envelopes stuffed with cash that we won't go into 'cos we don't want to have a diplomatic incident.
Apart from that it's dead easy for the Bulldog 3.0 (they have a classier computer than TWTD) to crunch the rest.
