Just looked this up as I was sure Bobby Sands was in prison when he was an MP, which he was. After that, the Representation of the People Act 1981 was introduced preventing prisoners serving jail terms of more than one year from being nominated. So, if NthQldITFC's friend is only set for a short stretch, then they could stand.
