Possibly but his chance of winning now will be the square root of nothing.

Why can't Labour field an alternative candidate to stand against him ?

It's too late to register anyone else for the ballot. Same applies to the constituencies where Conservative candidates have been suspended.

They have also retutned a 100K donation he made to the party, which seems an odd thing for a candidate, particularly a labour candidate to have done in the first place, almost like he was buying himself a candiidacy.

The Greens do have a real foothold in mid Suffolk. Worth voting for them as the Labour candidate has proved himself unfit. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I mean, I’d vote Green instead, but Lab had an outside chance of winning the seat, which the Greens don’t. In a way, this seems worse than the Tories betting on the election date based on inside info. Still, at least at least it’s one less PR “expert”/lobbyist in the party: https://plmr.co.uk/team-members/kevin-craig/

Have you seen the policies of the Green party? If you have I am surprised anyone with sense would even consider voting for them. They are against economic growth They have committed to borrow £80 billion more annually They will disband the armed services and replace them with a peace core That's just the tip of the iceberg.........

There was a story going around that Tory candidates Father also made donations. Really don’t understand why LibDem candidate shouldn’t benefit.

Yes I think there would soon be plenty of buyers remorse if the Greens ever got any actual power. I believe when all parties spending commitments were analysed, their budget had the biggest black hole, closely followed by Reform.

Analysed by whom? The Greens had the most public spending; that’s the not the same thing as a “black hole”. That’s just sensible.

Public spending without a clear explanation of where they find the money. Hence the black hole. All the parties have been particularly guilty of it in this election - whether it's unfunded spending promises, or tax cuts.

OK, I’ll assume you’re referring to the IFS. Here’s a summary of their thoughts on the Green Party’s manifesto: https://ifs.org.uk/articles/green-party-manifesto-reaction They don’t agree with some of their tax increases, but acknowledge that at least they do suggest ways in which they’ll fund spending. This is hardly the same as Reform claiminbg they’ll increase spending through “efficiency savings”. Their reaction to Labour’s plans is more critical: https://ifs.org.uk/articles/labour-party-manifesto-initial-response
