Agreed. Their popularity and ability to constantly sell out massive stadiums is one of life’s great mysteries to me. I don’t get it on any level. He seems a very decent chap, but musically, something passed me by somewhere. |  |

I know it’s trendy to knock Coldplay but I’ve seen them live and it’s a fantastic experience. I probably wouldn’t ever listen to their music day to day to be honest (although they do have some good songs) but they’re a fantastic live act. |  | | |

It is fashionable to knock them, but having seen them live a few years back in London, they are superb. The 1975, a very critically acclaimed, edgy band who I had high hopes for, were awful at Glasto when they were given a prominent slot. People underestimate how hard it is to give a strong performance for a crowd that size, and also to be able to sing live for a venue that large.
I'd say X&Y was a superb album too. After that it did get a bit too bland for me but the Coldplay hatred feels a bit like a lazy cliche. They write bangers and they are very, very good live. |  |
