Resale platform continues for 24/25 14:57 - Jul 23 with 2178 viewsNeedhamChris

Great news for us - other half won't get able to get to quite a lot of the games so this is a safety net without losing money or the seat.

Bad news for anyone hoping for season tickets to not be taken up by current ST holders as this removes a lot of the risk of just keeping them.

Will be interesting to see how this pans out over the coming seasons, considering what you mention of your situation.

I believe other Premier League clubs limit the ability to officially sell on the seat, to about 3 games a season in some cases.

If you don't show up as attending a certain amount of games, season ticket revoked. Brentfords 'Every Seat Counts' Policy below:

Hmm I was just thinking something similar but concluded it would be grossly unfair for anyone who has to miss a certain number of games due to circumstances outside of their control…. illness, caring duties, family situations etc

That's not quite an accurate representation of the Brentford policy. You only have to list the ticket on the ticket exchange in order to count as 'using' your season ticket.

It's lack of 'usage' not 'attendance' that is penalised.

Knock-on effect is this tempts people to sell via non-official channels, maybe even tout, so I'm in favour of the club encouraging people to use this scheme to the fullest. It benefits them financially to operate it too. If individuals are found to be making little personal use of their ST, to the extent the club feels they really ought not to own one, then opening dialogue with said people and case-by-case judgements seems a good approach.

I guess they are confident if it is listed in good time then the demand means it will sell.

Which is why they have brought forward the window for putting them on there and it counting as 'utilized', as the moan that 35% of tickets were being put on in the last 24 hours and then only having 93% average attendance.

Anyhow, that is just one example from one club.

Yeah agreed, smaller ground also so would imagine that helps for this.

It's a difficult balance though - I'd be inclined to limit the number of times you can use it (maybe 5?) but let's be honest, the club make a significant margin on it also.

Thanks for engaging with this like a grown up on a forum - it was merely a point of discussion.

This seems a bit unnecessary - it's an announcement the club have made and there are opposing view points.

I wanted to be much blunter. It isn't necessary to post the club's news. Your post was trite and self congratulatory. Read the room.

If you want to post for "opposing view points" and add your "good news" that your part time companion is chuffed to be able to miss games and sell it to a tourist... expect an opinion.

Div listed.

I would agree with you, I would say have the ability to list on the ticket exchange up to 5 times a season (25% of premier league home games) and must have 'utilized' 15 of the 19 games otherwise risk losing right to auto renewal as ultimately they want people in the ground buying merchandise / spending in the fan zone & on concourses.

Arsenal have a policy of 'utilising' 17 of the 22 games for the coming season (their season ticket includes 3 champions league home games i believe, hence 22 instead of 19).

all based on demand of course, so needs us to keep that premier league status :) COYB!

You can take it how you like - that's not how it was intended and it's very 2024 to just jump in two footed with the worst take. If you divlist after one comment you don't like - can't imagine how you react in a difficult conversation.

I probably should have worded the opening differently, but I stand by that it's a positive for us (and others in situations where flexibility is appreciated). OH is pregnant and will likely therefore miss Feb/March at least - so it's a welcome facility from the club so yes is good news. But I am not unaware that it doesn't help the waiting list.

I've shared my view in this thread that I'd personally add a limit, regardless of my situation. And if/when that happens, fair enough.

I'm sure the data people at the club will be all over this. A lot will depend on whether the resale tickets sell or not, as if they don't it's not helping anyone.

At the same time they'll be some who sell/lend outside of the official channels.

And yes, exactly! It's a nice problem to have and long may it continue as we establish in the PL.

Have the club ever released the amount of tickets sold through it last season during the trial?

I suspect a lot of people have friends/family to give the ticket to?

And for people who got a ticket through it, was it just it appeared as and when, or were they released at a certain time etc?
