Post game McKenna was pretty clear about wanting "lots" more additions. Now we can debate whether that means 4/5 or 7/8 but do wonder where they are going to come from.
We don't seem keen to move into the overseas market so seems we will predominantly be sticking to the UK, which costs more £ even if you are looking to recruit the best from the Championship.
McKenna has hinted at wanting a bit of Premier League experience - you don't often see loans of established PL players between clubs and there isn't a pool of free agents waiting to be snapped up. So that is going to be permanent transfers. Difficult, expensive deals to do.
I think what I am trying to say basically, is that we are going to need to spend some serious money still, on top of the £56m + add ons we have already spent.

I know it’s early but Delap worth 20 m what must Hirst be worth 30/40 mil didn’t hardly have a touch Saturday i think if Leeds as reported are after Tanaka we should be aiming for players like him was really impressed and only a year to go on his contract.
I think mckenna is right about more additions we might not like it but some players last season are not going to be up for it i’ll say 2 loanees and 4 new signings are required. | | | |

I wonder if we look at late-career players for some of that experience, with Aluko moving to the coaching staff and Ball leaving there's a bit of a gap in that experienced pro role too. |  |

Personally thought Delap looked decent. Was sat in Sir Bobby and he looked lively from there. Very much in the Hirst mould; fast, physical, willing to run for everything |  | | |

I just wonder where they are coming from though? You'd ideally want to be picking those up on free transfers (albeit on decent wages) but doesn't seem a lot about this summer. They are the type of players that clubs like to keep around. I thought Cresswell would have been ideal for that role but he got another year at West Ham. [Post edited 29 Jul 2024 9:37]

Yeah, not a great deal of time left. I imagine there will be some late deals (assuming transfer window is end of August again) but that's not where we're likely to get that experience from either. | |

It may do.
But you only need to look at that leaked dossier a few weeks ago that said "looking for players who understand English or who have worked with an English-speaking coach" to see we are going to be very careful. Ioannidis aside, we don't seem to have seriously been in for anyone from overseas so far. And all the serious links seem to be UK based too. | | | |

I understand people saying we don't look keen for players in foreign teams but we must be looking at some I should imagine.
Yes they are potentially bigger risks, but I'm sure they would be the fraction of the price.
I agree a few older/experienced players on free transfers would be good too, even if they are just squad players. | | | |
