"Newly promoted Ipswich Town included a link to 8xbet on its under-18 page, another dedicated to young fans’ initiatives and one dedicated to junior fans’ experiences, including the page where fans sign up to be a matchday mascot."
Thankfully not the most egregious of breaches, and the swiftness of rectification (one hopes) would suggest that this was more of an oversight when using website templates, rather than anything more concerning.
The general tenor of the article, and some of the other clubs' breaches, makes for somewhat concerning reading, however.

It's almost like they should ban gambling advertising all together.....
That would, however, put a severe dent in many non-state-owned Prem clubs being able to fund themselves.
Shows once again how fortunate we were to fall into the hands of owners who have (by chance* or design) mostly steered clear of that sector.
* By that I mean Rosie Richardson getting Ed Sheeran on board to sponsor the shirts, a process reportedly begun before GC20 took over. Not strictly chance, but wasn't initiated by them either.

Frankly, I'm surprised it's that low.
There should be similar restrictions on gambling advertising as there is smoking.

Exactly, I get that advertising is out of control at this point (social media, youtube, TV) but it's time they cracked down on alcohol, gambling and junk food advertising.
I miss the simple days of PPI and accident claims adverts or some windows and conservatory ads.

Why is the answer to ban everything?
I've seen Ed Sheerans logo on our shirts .... I've never wanted to buy any of his music, though.
Maybe the answer lies with parenting and not expecting the government to do the parenting for us.
Christ, don't kids learn about stuff from each other on the playground.
Because his music isn't harmful (even if you don't like it).
Whereas there is lots of research on the dangers of gambling, especially when children are involved. We know how gambling can be addictive on a psychological level.
Whilst I agree it would be great if everyone had good parents who could teach their kids about responsible betting, not everyone has that. So you can either try and deal with the problem or accept the consequences.

Don't get me started on micro payments for games that kids play either......
Ade Akinbiyi couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo...

No they don't as they are to busy on their phones at high school.
And don't get me started on parenting and kids at school. I am sure we had this discussion in another thread about kids going to school still wearing nappies and unable to go to the toilet, parents claiming it is the schools job to teach them.

Duff argument really and pretty insensitive. I have always had issues with gambling since I was about 16 years old. Not my parent's fault and certainly fine now but it's in your face every day. I am also a fat troll so I am partial to junk food, again don't need it rammed into my face when I am watching Emmerdale.
Kids have brains like a frigging sponge and lets face it, all the things I have listed are a serious issue in society. When you have young lads topping themselves due to gambling debts, it's obviously an issue.
Also, my parents are really old, I don't think they can prevent me from wanting KFC if I watch an ad on it.

Just started the second series of the Burnley documentary. In a forum they discuss the new link with a betting firm, a few got pants in a twist, chairman said ‘shall I cancel the sponsorship or sell X player’ They all laughed, and it was swept under the carpet.
Just teach your own kids that gambling is bad. Dont leave it to chance. It’s simple. Then if they do see the adverts they will think back to your guidance you gave them.

Touchy subject, so I’ll not dive in two footed, but prior to being 16 did your parents give you any kind of money management lessons, Or atleast have that discussion with you?
I remember the cruel to be kind discussions as if they were yesterday.
‘You can’t eat that sht everyday you get all spotty and fat..’ ‘Don’t you want to be able to run about and play football? Eat some fruit then’ ‘Don’t waste your money on the fruit machines and be like them sad tw.ats stood alone in the corner of the pub’ ‘Smoking is awful, you’ll have black lungs and die early’ (as they stood there smoking)
Kids brains are like sponges as you say… and they’ll take in the above easily

Or, otherwise, stop clubs from essentially marking their own homework in matters such as this.
Exactly this. The clubs argued for self-regulation in an effort to avoid losing all that profit but it's patently obvious that PL clubs regulating themselves is no answer at all

We all had 'smoking is bad, yo' thing at recited at us in school and at home. Didn't stop a whole lot taking it up because it made you look cool.
Gambling is sold as a cool way to make a few quid and something that actively enhances your match viewing experience. However you're viewing it.
It's an utterly parasitic industry pretty much without any kind of merit, whatsoever.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

I know we've discussed this between us on a previous thread, so I won't rehash it all again.
However I will say that not every kid absorbs stuff as easy as you did and appreciated the impact of their actions. The number of time we as kids were told to not smoke, many did. We all know junk food is bad for us, but we ate McDonalds. Gambling is just another vice, that is framed as harmless, which when it's small and fun it is, however it can lead to serious problems.
Kids need protecting from themselves, now if some deem that as being overly controlling then so be it. You have to account for the worse case scenario. The vast majority of gun owners in Australia were perfectly law abiding citizens, wouldn't even dream of shooting, then Port Arthur happened and boom gun control came down hard. It's difficult to argue that Australia isn't a better place now because of it.
Point is sometimes society has to make a sacrifice as a whole, it's not fun or fair if you're one of the ones that doesn't have a problem or is at risk, but that's just the way it goes sometimes.
I am watching Wolves v Liverpool. It is a constant bombardment of intrusive betting advertising, the worst I have ever seen in a match. It looks so ugly.
