In effect Klopp is now Red Bull Leeds director of football. 11:05 - Oct 9 with 3129 viewsWeWereZombies

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cwye80dqy2ro

'Energy drinks brand Red Bull owns RB Leipzig in Germany's Bundesliga, Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg and Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls, as well as Brazilian side Red Bull Bragantino.

It also took a minority stake in Championship side Leeds and became the club's front-of-shirt sponsor earlier this year.

Red Bull says Klopp will not be involved in day-to-day operations but will advise teams on playing philosophy, transfer strategy and coaching development.'

Poll: What was in Wes Burns' imaginary cup of tea ?

Whatever you do, do not continuously refer to them as Red Bull Leeds to a Leeds supporter, who last season found it hilarious that they destroyed Ipswich twice. And who celebrated promotion at least four times.

Do not do that, that would be very childish behaviour indeed.

But I didn't call Red Bull Leeds 'Red Bull Leeds' in my OP...

I can see that having someone of his wisdom contributing to a number of clubs is positive for them, spreading the benefit maybe makes it financially viable, and it might even attract the odd signing. A bit depressing for the coaches of their teams though, that "playing philosophy" is being dictated to them all from a global HQ.

I wonder what impact he will have on Leeds. Given that Red Bull only has a minority stake, they wouldn't be able to foist their 'philosophy' or any decisions at all on Leeds without wider approval within the club. Or maybe this signals an intention to increase their stake. Who knows...

Oh, I don't know. I'm looking forward to hearing the story about Herr Klopp calling in Farke and asking why Leeds can't find the net and Farke saying 'But I thought we were looking for the Madonna with the big boobies.'

With apologies for the inappropriate and outdated reference but most of all to fans of 'Allo Allo'.

I respect it. He was obviously burned out from the management side of things. This gives him a new challenge but perhaps without the pressure. It will still be a busy role, but as you say more corporate.

It will be a busy role? How can you possibly know that? Sounds like a bit a made up role/a jolly to me. - "global head of soccer"

Ironically he's burned out/tired and he goes to work for Red Bull..........!

It will give him wings to reduce the tired feeling. Sounds perfect...

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

True, but then I would be editing what I quoted from the BBC report and I wouldn't do that ~ even to refer to Red Bull Leeds as Red Bull Leeds.

"In effect Klopp is now Red Bull Leeds' director of football, as reported by the BBC, and referred to as their former name of Leeds..." would've sufficed, wouldn't it?

Was he not that already, working at one of the biggest clubs in the world and featuring in lots of adverts? I think this article nails it:

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/oct/09/jurgen-klopp-shakes-english-foo

For all Liverpool and Barca's claims that it matters more, and they're 'more than a club', when you're raking in that much cash you're as corporate as they come. If they lowered ticket prices, or gave replica shirts away, then it might be a different matter...

Apologies, penny has finally dropped about where I can do the edit to call Red Bull Leeds 'Red Bull Leeds'...even if it is childish to call them Red Bull Leeds.

See, that wasn't so difficult, was it? (Even if somewhat childish!)
