Our throw ins 12:10 - Dec 2 with 936 viewsallezlesbleus

We were exceptionally poor at throw ins on Saturday. There rarely seemed any players available and we frequently lost possession very quickly after our throw in. Hadn't really noticed it much in other games this season, but it really stood out against Forest.

Agreed.

Not too disappointed with today BUT by Chris_ITFC 30 Nov 2024 22:01
Our throw-ins always surprise me for their apparent lack of thought or tactical organisation.

We seem to either chuck it down the line to Delap, or launch it ambitiously / hopefully across the pitch, risking it being intercepted an opposition player. From too safe, to too risky.

Either way, a throw-in to us seems more likely to result in us losing the ball, and sometimes even being counter-attacked on.

We have been pretty crap at throw ins for quite a while now - I am often amazed at the lack of movement / options from our players.

It's strange how Kieran hasn't noticed this and done something about it. We work so hard to retrieve possession, it seems a travesty to give the ball away so often, so cheaply.

Completely agree. We gave it away on almost every one!

There was mention of Cajuste having a long throw. I think he's been great last couple of games but haven't seen anything that could have earnt him that reputation.

For one everyone was waiting inside the opposition area and it didn't even make it inside the area. In fairness maybe the ball was wet. Wasn't it Delap senior who had a towel ready on the touch-lines at the Britannia perhaps we should follow suit.

....all of our set pieces are pretty hopeless.

Mark Hudson needs to up his game really.

Cajuste’s long throws were ok, it was Leif’s and Axel’s where we gave possession away pretty much every time.

We look decent defensively from set pieces but attacking set pieces we’ve not offered anything.

We had 3 or 4 throw ins on Saturday that we conceded possession from straight away.

We had a header from a corner cleared off the the line on Saturday!

Based on the stats before Saturday, we're 14th in the league on XG from set pieces and are actually underperforming for goals scored against our XG. We're 7th for shots from set pieces.

Agreed our throw ins from the full back area were very poor.

Yes, thinking about it, I think the throw ins from the full back areas are where I mostly noted the problem.
