Burgess or Greaves on 23:39 - Dec 8 with 1547 views | Marshalls_Mullet | Burgess is looking more solid. He's been great this season, and was our best defender last season. Greaves is better on the ball, I think Burgess is the better defender.

Burgess or Greaves on 23:45 - Dec 8 with 1518 views | Garv | Not at the moment it isn't. I wonder if McKenna might be regretting the Greaves pick against Palace. It felt needless in a really important week for us.

Burgess or Greaves on 23:45 - Dec 8 with 1517 views | Bugs | At the start of the season, this was a no-brainer. Greaves. Absolute class in every part of his game. I have always thought Burgess to be fantastic, but susceptible to giving the ball away cheaply (to be fair to him, how many times that has happened leading to a goal is tiny, if at all). Greaves was an upgrade. But bloody hell, Burgess today. The man was supposed to be getting replaced when we went up to the championship. He looked like he had a decade of prem experience, today he has taken that position as his own at the moment. But I wouldn't be too surprised that come April, Greaves has taken it back.
Burgess or Greaves on 23:46 - Dec 8 with 1512 views | Vaughan8 | People seem to think Greaves is but no way for me as today proved. Burgess saved a few goals/great opportunities. Greaves gave the goal away v Palace.

He was so good no one has really mentioned his assist. Davis-like.

Agreed, there didnt seem to be any logic to it. Unless Burgess was injured, it was an error of judgement.

We have the privilege of hindsight, of course. But Greaves has a far higher ceiling. But Burgess has more than overreached his ceiling last season and just keeps on doing so. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I didn't need hindsight. I thought it was a bad call at the time.

Burgess or Greaves on 07:32 - Dec 9 with 1117 views | RobTheMonk | Burgess at the moment. It's a funny old game when you lose 2-1, score an own goal but are man of the match for your team by a considerable distance. As someone else said, unless it was an injury, I'm not sure why he didn't start against Palace, especially as he and O'Shea had been doing alright.
Burgess or Greaves on 07:49 - Dec 9 with 1061 views | ringwoodblue | It’s Burgess for me. He is an international (albeit only for Australia) so has more experience and can read situations better. Greaves will be good for the future.

I’m thinking same. We need to stop shipping goals and Greaves needs a run of games to rebuild that early confidence and I think he’d get that alongside O’Shea and Burgess. It would also allow likes of Jack Clarke and Broadhead to come on later in games against tired legs if we’re behind.

Burgess or Greaves on 10:00 - Dec 9 with 833 views | ArnieM | How about playing all THREE in a three CB pairing ? O’Shea…….. Greaves…….Burgess Of course that would mean McKenna needing to change from his rigid thinking….
