Getting in behind Ben Johnson really dangerously from minute one but we didn't do anything the change that. Ultimately that's what lead to Muric's rush of blood and us conceding. Yes Muric made a error but Johnson and our inability to solve that tactical flaw seems to be being ignored.

Yeah, Semenyo was running off him from the start. I like Johnson and he is a good player but he couldn't match the pace, power, movement there.

It was noticeable that we were trying to keep play away from their left.

They were overloading him and for someone who'd been out for a while he was struggling. I can't believe he played the whole game.

Perhaps a case for 3 in the middle to see out the game. A plan B as it were.

yes it was previous obvious what was happening, I am surprised we did not make a change to double up on him.

The loss of Tuanzebe for months is a real worry because neither Johnson or Clarke looks up to the job to me.

They were creating multiple chances from their left side. Tuanzebe is a massive loss.

This!

For what ever reason we didn’t react to what was happening and it was always going to cost us eventually.

I don't think it's a tactical flaw. We always tend to leave that side open because we're always shifting across to let Leif maraud down the left.

The difference is Tuanzebe who can generally cope with it, versus Johnson/Clarke who can't.

Someone else posted that it was said at the start of the season that we'd need to be lucky with injuries this season. We haven't and I don't think it's overly simplistic to put our start of the season down to that.

Don't think it was especially pace or power, but Semenyo just too tricky and had too much tight ball-control. After being beaten 2-3 times Johnson took to sliding in very quickly if Semenyo had yet to completely kill the ball. But that only worked in that particular situation. Once Semenyo had it under control and headed towards him Johnson was out of his depth. I don't think Harry would have fared much better, although a certain JD in seasons gone-by might just have had the nous to contain him.

It wasn't just the individual skill, Bournemouth were regularly and successfully clipping in balls in behind him.

BJ started that game looking like the BJ that turned up to West Ham away, sloppy, leggy, a bit drippy on the eye.
Got in a few nice tackles as the game went on, but then ultimately had that moment again.
That said, the keeper still is the problem for the first goal

He’s incredibly up and down; was excellent away at Spurs, yesterday played like he was a nervous kid making his pro debut.

A very good point. Musric may have rushed out, but he wouldn’t have needed to if they hadn’t got in behind Johnson, for what felt like the umpteenth time. Johnson looked tired towards the end, which wasn’t surprising as he’s been out for a month, and up against a couple of decent wingers/attackers. It’s not often I think that KM gets things wrong, but for me, chappers should have gone off around 60 mins, with harry clarke going to right back, Johnson moving to right wing and hutch into the middle. Would have shored the right side up a bit without losing any attacking intent in the middle. But hey, what do I know.

Agree with all that but would have waited a bit longer and just taken Hutchinson off though Johnson may have been too tired to take the right flank role by then

I think that's the nail on the head really where you've said Tuanzebe can cope with it and Johnson/Clarke can't. It's as simple as that.

It's not an easy replacement when someone like Tuanzebe is so assured in that role though. I'd be interested to know if the staff are happy with Johnson though, he doesn't look as athletic as I'd thought he would be, he reminds me of Myles Kenlock when it comes to athleticism.

Johnson's best game was against Spurs when he played as a hybrid FB/WB with Tuanzebe. It made the whole set up more fluid. If Tuanzebe had been playing in the last two games we'd have more points now.

The right sided midfielder and CB should be covering/assisting, Muric should be assisting with his voice.

Johnson is an attacking right back similar to Davies, we need to either play 3 CBs or the right side midfielders need to cover Johnsons runs better.
