Jack Taylor's interview after the match 11:16 - Dec 15 with 2511 viewsitfc_bucks

"thanks to the manager for putting his trust in me".

Says it all about this group of players and the boss. It's not about "me", it's about the collective. It's the "running towards adversity" thing.

Love it.

More please.

I know this is a very minor nit-pick but God, I hate all that 'inspirational' horsesh1t. I get that its all just corporate banding, etc, etc but it makes no sense when you apply it to a football team, particularly in a league situation - what you want, is to be running AWAY from adversity, because it means you're running into good times and away from stuff like getting relegated.

Running towards adversity is what Marcus Evans had us doing for nearly 20 years.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

I get you when I was in a corporate and had all that nonsense, however I don't give a to$$ right now about it as whatever it is, the words, the sentiment, the manager, the CEO it's working and despite moving through the division we seem to have such unity as a squad even bringing in PL loans that gel. Much of that down to recruitment of the right character of players.

Look at Wolves as an example of lack of unity and the wrong characters.

It's in the context of Jason Schechterle's work though isn't it rather than corporate speak? Emergency services workers consciously run into challenging situations and deal with them. The club wants the same mentality from the players - that they won't shy away from the hard stuff.

He's been impressive and i'm glad we are starting to see him more. Felt like we didn't really want to use him last season but he's done well to jump right up in the pecking order and now is a go-to player. Deserved the goal.

I did wonder if we had seen the last of him after his lamentable penalty at the Wombles....

I can't imagine KMcK would have been overly impressed with the feeble "stutter"

But I'm delighted he has worked his way back into contention

I have wanted him to be my new favourite player since he arrived from Peterboro, young fella has got a helluva shot

I think this is one of the less spoken-about facets of KM's management: No-one is ever in the cold forever.

A lot of managers would have transfer listed him after that. Instead, he's coached and encouraged him and then, he's gone on to score the winner today.

If you don't know the relevance of that phrase by now you never will.
It's not what you just wrote by the way.

The way that KMcK manages the squad is superlative....such wonderful man-management

I think the recruitment has been the key foundation, he has built such a excellent spirit

I do wonder how he will get on with hot-headed players and out of control egos in his next club when he eventually, and sadly, moves on

I thought this from his interview was a refreshing change from the cliches that footballers tend to trot out.

"It’s probably the best picture you could paint, scoring a last-minute winner like that."

Running towards adversity is not the same as falling into it. The "inspirational" ho0rsesh1t you speak of lies at the very heart of KMcK and MA's philosophy, the players buy into it and the results are for all to see.

As a former marketing professional myself, I see plenty of horsesh1t that gets peddled all the time in every area of business. You need to put your cynical nature to one side, understand the difference between bullsh1t and "good sh1t" and stop being such a massive fanny.

Depends on your perspective, doesn't it?

I interpret it as "choosing to do the rewarding hard thing, rather than the easy thing".
