Yes, looks calm and tidy on the ball, and has very good positional sense too.

Not had a hard game in fairness, but been solid enough. Be interesting to see him next round against a slightly tougher opposition.

He looked good in the EFL cup game too, seems to be the perfect backup for Leif.

I wonder why McKenna doesn’t sometimes elect to bring Townsend on and push Davis further up the pitch (or substitute), to see games out rather than us get caught out with Davis caught up the pitch.

YES.

Install Townsend at left back against better opposition to see how it goes. He looked very comfortable on the ball.

I am one who has been banging on about Leif Davis in left midfield . He would offer much more simply because of his work rate and Ipswich would have more attacking threat.

Only 31, not missed a game for WBA for 3 seasons, they sell him and stick Styles at left-back who is more of a left midfield really.

Strange he came to Town really as was no way way he was getting in ahead of Davis who will always play 90 mins. Would like to see Davis subbed after 70 for a bit of a rest sometimes as Conor is a top quality defender

It's because the system is better with a right-footed winger in the left forward role.

But Davis isn't the best at beating a player 1-1, hes better coming from deep into space. I don't think Davis will look any different to how wes looks on the right in the prem personally. As wingbacks fine, but in an attacking sense, they just don't have the natural attributes to beat prem fullbacks 1-1

I have however found it interesting that Davis never gets subbed for Townsend, it doesn't make sense with the amount of running Davis does

a niche perspective

Barely played a game here, August his only outing? Yet comes in looks fit, with quality on the ball.

He deserves more game time.
