Saw the video yesterday for the latest Manic Street Preachers single, and today I've had the 3 hour Spotify curated playlist on, followed by The Holy Bible. God they're good.

Wire says that he thinks about Edwards all the time. He imagines what he’d be doing now, “a cultural commentator”, perhaps. “He wrote so much, it would have just been endless articles and essays. A lyric like PCP [about censoring yourself for fear of falling foul of political correctness, which Edwards wrote in 1994] is such a portent of what’s happened.”

Love the Manics. Never miss a tour. The three singles from the new album are great, including a Nicky Wire vocal for the first time on a single release.
Had the privilege of seeing them at Glasto years ago. I took some acid before they came on and thought i was hallucinating seeing a guy with a skipping rope on stage. Turns out that actually happened.

Great minds think alike!
The irony is that they are the most left-wing band imaginable, but from that point started saying they were definitely not liberals. I didn't really understand the difference at the time. I do now.

I remember buying the "Actually" on cassette when I was visiting my sister when she lived in Lisburn, Northern Ireland in 1987 ...
When you consider the technology available at time and the cost (The Fairlight cost close to £120,000 in "today's" money), the album is a masterpiece.
Cassette tapes! I’ve tried telling my teenage kids that we used to get our music and video games on cassette tapes and they look at me like I’m 200 years old.

There's been a resurgence of cassettes in recent years, as apparently the younger generation wanted to own a physical item, or so the feller in Rough Trade East told me!

Did you also tell them that one almost vital accessory to have whilst listening to them was a Bic biro?

Losing that physical connection with art is a sad loss. Admiring the album artwork was a huge part of what made buying music so fun and exciting.

The BBC did an article on the 40th anniversary of the Walkman where they gave one to a selection of kids. It took them a week before they realised you had to take the cassette out and flip it over if you wanted to listen to the other side.

The art of mix tapes is another loss to society. Trying to find a song that was 2:41 to complete the A side so there's no unnecessary empty noise, without reusing a band already used within the last 5 -7 songs ...
