Murphy’s comments on MOTD, made some interesting points… 11:28 - Feb 23 with 1338 views | brazil1981 | Don’t usually watch as sick of usual coverage/bias from pundits etc. However watched on iPlayer this morning to see if criticism of Godfrey by fans (including myself) was really justified…at the game like most, I thought he looked way off the pace and Son had him on toast! Probably the above was the case, however Murphy highlighted our defensive shortcomings across the back four as well as our set-up (4 rather than 5 at the back). Davis certainly lost Johnson for both first two goals, Woolfy I think showed and allowed Kulusevski to shoot with his much stronger left foot…Murphy even suggested it was ‘disrespectful’ to have played 4 at the back rather than 5 against Spurs! Not so sure about the last point but maybe KM got it a bit wrong yesterday as Godfrey was exposed! This season has been a big learning curve for him , too late I fear for this season, but IF KM stays and IF we bounced straight back up I suspect he’ll be better manager for this experience!

Murphy’s comments on MOTD, made some interesting points… on 11:35 - Feb 23 with 1232 views | pointofblue | I hated the line up as soon as I saw it. Our better performances since Manchester United have been when we've started with a back three with Woolfenden in the middle. And it's not as though we have fantastic wingers who we need to get into the side. Hutchinson can play as a right ten, Broadhead a left ten whilst the likes of Philogene and Clarke, for the moment, are bench warmers. Sticking to philosophy to the detriment of the team is something we mocked Russell Martin for. It feels like the same thing is happening here. The only defence I can think of is, despite what he's saying, McKenna has waved the white flag and is trying to bed in players for the new season, but there's little point draining them of confidence before then. As it is the expectation and pressure, in all likelihood, is going to be ramped up come August.

Murphy’s comments on MOTD, made some interesting points… on 11:44 - Feb 23 with 1159 views | Garv | Our defending reflects where we are in the league and the goals conceded, and maybe 4 at the back is naive, but if we score one or two of those early chances then it's much less of an issue. Like almost all our home games (probably a stretch but it feels like it), we started like a train. We miss 3/4 medium to good chances, and you immediately feel like you'll regret it. Who knows what happens if we score the first goal - Spurs could still win 4-1, but if we could take the lead more often it would strike a bit more fear in the opposition and give us confidence. Yesterday would have been a great example in theory, as they looked absolutely ragged. It's hard to debate what is a bigger issue for us, scoring goals or keeping them out, but I lean towards the former. We don't take early chances when we get them and the more the game settles down we run out of puff and struggle to create full stop.

To prevent Godfrey and Leif being too high and massively exposing us. Which is what happened all the first half.

We run out of puff because we make odd decisions when it comes to the finishers. Imagine we played a back three yesterday, with a forward three of Hutchinson, Broadhead and Delap. We then bring on Philogene and Clarke around the hour mark. What they have is pace against tiring full backs. They can exploit space and take advantage of their freshness. As it is, they burn out at the same rate as the defenders then are replaced by slower players who tired defenders find easier to handle.

Agree to an extent but whomever plays in whatever system they need to do the basics. Godfrey, then Davis then Woolfenden didn't
