Nobody wants to call a spade a spade. It’s not fair on him as much as anything else, he’s miles off the pace.

Why is it to be expected? He should be improving as he gets used to the Championship and under McKenna’s coaching.

Why pile on him when Clarke missed a sitter and cost us the first goal. In reality there are a number below the level today. SB [Post edited 24 Jan 15:57]

I’m not talking about his chance. He’s been dire again today, so sloppy for their 2nd.
| Absolutely dreadful on 16:00 - Jan 24 with 783 views | cressi | To be fair he has lost his confidence in the last month. It goes far deeper than a 19 Yr old , although we have controlled most of the home games we have never looked like coming from behind and winning a game unlike the side that went up who never knew when they were beaten the only way we get anything today is half time subs which is very unlike McKenna. | | | |

Tbh weve been told hirst has lost his confidence ever since he himself said scoring goals is what he does.. he didn't appear low in confidence but thats all his defenders have been saying for months now. Sorry thought someone mentioned hirst my bad [Post edited 24 Jan 16:03]

You're discussing his performance and worth to the team. You can't just pick and choose the bits of the performance that suit your argument. SB

I’m not. I’m talking about the half on balance and indeed his last however many performances. You’re the one who picked one moment, not me.

To be fair, he has been really poor today, and that contribution for the second goal was bad. Clarke had worked really hard to retain possession and create space, gave it to Walle Egeli, who immediately lost possession and then they broke and punished us. No need for the OTT op, but the it hasn't been nearly good enough from him today.

I do feel some get to defensive over some players when their performance level has been obviously poor

I acknowledged he could have done some things better but he also did well in that instance. Just seems lots off their game (Clarke was awful that half) but he couldn't wait to dig out our youngest player when many were off their game. SB

Clarke was sloppy for the 1st goal and missed a chance, in that respect comparable. Otherwise he was about our only player trying to make something happen and looking after the ball.
