Farage chant for Birmingham 07:55 - Mar 25 with 1112 viewsBlueMoon

For fans who don’t support and don’t want Ipswich to here-on be known as Reform FC; I suggest a coordinated chant on minute 2 of the Birmingham match.

“Stand up if you h*te Farage, stand up”

An opportunity to show the footballing world we’re not right wing supporters. Keep it going for a minute, as many as possible. Much more powerful message than we’ve seen from the club.

Thereafter put it to bed and move on.

This would divide support more than anything we have ever known. The club really needs to come out and be far more pro- active. The more I see of this , the more I am sure it has the potential to undo the last 5 years in one fell swoop.

This would not put it to bed. It would mean an issue has festered in some for two weeks. A lot else will happen in two weeks.

Buy a ticket for WSL2, Brum or Charlton away. Sing Blue Army and move on with football being the powerful message.

I think the best thing supporters can do is stick it to those who made this ridiculous decision. It’s not on McKenna or the players and shouldn’t undermine what they’re working towards.

Main issue is it would provide an open invite to the counter chant "stand up if you love Farage" and before long, politics has leaked into the terraces which is the exact opposite of what we want.

It's so easy to see where that ends.

Two factions in the stands, fisticuffs ensue, Farage plays the victim and claims the 'patriots' have been attacked by the 'left'.
His work is done.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.
Poll: Which recent triallist should we have signed?

Yep, there's no good ending to that. Fans need to get behind the team as normal, they need to see we're on side and share the same concerns most of them likely do.

If anything just a big banner:

F**K FARAGE
F**K REFORM
F**K FACISM

If we are going down the banner route I'm sure we can be a bit cleverer than that - particularly if we want it to get broader publicity.

"I'd rather have Lambert than Farage at my club. Bigots not welcome"

(Insert Cook/Keane/Jewell/McCarthy/Evans depending on personal preference)

With our luck, he'd get a 5 game ban for bringing politics into football

Banners to the effect of

LOVE NOT HATE
FOOTBALL NOT FASCISM
ITFC NOT M.ASHTON FC

3 ideologies that can be collectively gathered behind, indiscriminate of which political party you align with.

This. Our Communications Director is prime candidate to hold responsibility. In the age of viral social media, he should have banned the club from formally hosting politicians. Compounded his error by inviting Reform's social media team. Incredibly dumb.

If there was anything to be learnt from this fiasco it should be keep politics out of football.

PS

What sort of Town fan posts as Blue Moon?
