That Portsmouth game has made us all super anxious, hasn't it? 12:30 - Apr 22 with 1648 viewsDubtractor

That game aside, we've been doing just fine, including a decent recent away record.

Football fans being what we are though, we're now considering that game as the benchmark of what we might do.

I'm hoping that game was an outlier and we'll see a couple of solid but unspectacular away wins in the next 2.

our 5 game away form is actually better than our home form, maybe we should be fretting about qpr!

i think the difficulty is more with the compressed nature of the fixtures rather than the home/away aspect

I think the poor second half the other day, as well as against Birmingham might play a part.

Also, Sheff Wed away despite a win wasn't convincing. Stoke away wasn't great either was it?

Also, the fact we have only come back and won in 1 game this season means the first goal seems mightily important. I still find that stat strange for a top team in a league.

Not sure it was a poor 2nd half display TBH. Boro are a very good team. We showed some fight and spirit to get an equaliser even if the pen was quite soft.

Definitely the Portsmouth game causing alarm bells to go off. Otherwise I'd agree that we've been doing fine.

I'm not suggesting it had been perfect, but we'd been picking up consistent results, tight at the back, creating chances etc.

Portsmouth was the worst performance of the season, comfortably so, and it has understandably made us all nervous.

No doubt we've had some good away performances but my anxiety comes from lots of poor/very average performances away from home this season too. I don't think Portsmouth was such a outlier. Flip of a coin on what type of performance we get for me. I just hope we leave nothing to chance and start with intensity.

A bit, but I'm still feeling chilled about it all, tbh.

If we don't win tonight - and there will be those who say we don't need to - but if we don't win, I say we don't deserve 2nd.

If we can't go to a side like Charlton, with 4 games left of the season for automatic promotion, we deserve to be in the POs.

What will be, will be.

Poll: So what do we think will happen with MM and the Aston Villa job?

Still haunted by that first half at Stoke. We absolutely have to start with some intensity and focus.

There have been a few others like hull away too, but because we won, that gets forgotten. That game was dire!

Some I haven't seen like Leicester away but apparently that was bad too? We've had a few "stinkers" away from home.

At home we've only had 1 really.............against Charlton of all teams!

Yeah - If we don’t win tonight then by definition we will have achieved 2 or less points from 9 against Stoke, Pompey and Charlton, there will be absolutely no chance we deserve it! Going to be a crazy low total as well.

Surely we get the result tonight though, don’t think we’ve gone more than 2-3 without a victory this season in fairness.

Have to win with what games are upcoming for us (and Millwall).

Poll: Ok gut feeling then, promotion?

slight caveat, we went 5 games without a win before the transfer window closed, that was a very different team then though!

can't cherry pick games though, millwall didn't beat charlton & pompey, but they'll almost certainly be going up if we don't. is there absolutely no chance that they deserve it?!

the team with the highest league position deserves to go up, games against cov, hull and norwich give the same points as those against stoke, pompey & charlton!

I'm feeling a bit Doris Day about it myself.
And we still have the play offs which, I know, we have been hopeless at over the years.
But we're not Leicester.
And another year of Champ wouldn't kill me. And I really hated the Prem season.

Hull
Leicester
Bullied at Sheff United
Wrexham disaster
Pompey
Preston was limp albeit early in the season
Blackburn X2
Stoke 1st half
Oxford

On a more positive note we've generally been better on the 'closer' trips. Norwich, Watford, QPR. Millwall was a bit 'meh', but not dreadful.

None of it matters now though, we are where we are. Got to win tonight.

I think the issue currently, with this group, whilst they have delivered some really successful days, you also know they have the capability to drop a stinker, even from half to half.

That is the main concern for me, at our best you'd be confident against anyone, but it's whether we 'turn up' with our best.

Except from Boro aren't a very good team and were missing their two main threats.
