Is there a position Ouattara HASN'T played for Strasbourg?
I thought he'd be RB/RWB but perhaps O'Neil is looking to be more defensive in the RB position, so Ouattara, as long as he joins, is going to be cover for a number of positions. | |

Think it’s an area defensively that’s a concern, especially against the very best of the PL.
I really want a hybrid LCB that can always play left back as well for certain games this season, the two conceded today do little to change my mind on that.
Davis has always had questions defensively and an argument to try and upgrade or at least bring in competition for Greaves.
I guess Diop will line up on the left of O’Shea in a 4 but it’s not his preferred. [Post edited 15 Aug 16:54]

Nope we need Leif's attacking.
All the successful teams in the PL have attacking full backs. The important thing is when Leif bombs forward a midfielder player needs to drop into that position. That will come once our newer midfielders become more familiar with the format.
Kante when he was at Leicester & Chelsea was perfect at that. A FB bombed forward and he would just move over to that side of the pitch. We have midfielders capable of that.
Take Leif's attacking away and we lose a massive amount of our attacking danger. |  | | |

Yes - we have got away with it for a while. Our starters might be found wanting this season on that side but the back ups are all sub optimal playing in secondary positions as cover. If the back ups are that level we are ruined in the even of an extended period when Leif is not fit. I would happily trade one of Kipre Johnson to help us balance with a natural left footed CB/hybrid LB. Ideally trade up and put greater pressure of Greaves or Leif or worst case try for a loan but that might not be appealing to many players.
Easier said than done but necessary imo. I know plenty are focused on the other side. | |

You're entering dangerous territory there, though for what it's worth I see where you're coming from. Everyone knows it's a trade off with Leif. You get his offensive capabilities which are undoubted along with his defensive shortcomings, which as far as I'm concerned are undoubted too. Such as losing the ball, leading Greaves to have to dash across and commit the foul which led to UB's opener. May be a case of horses for courses in the PL. Some matches for sure we'll need to be as tight defensively as is possible, others we may be able to be more expansive. It's up to G O'N, as ever, time will tell. |  | | |
