I'd broadly agree, but it IS a little disappointing to see a six foot nine goalkeeper beaten at his near post.

They showed the difference in level doesn’t it. It looks like our push for a Champions League position will have to wait until next season

Isaac's touch to control that ball was superb. He looked in great nick at the World Cup and has just taken that into the new season.

A great strike for the first. However keeper was in no man’s land for the second.

Uniteds equalizer was similar in its quality, a look up, and the pace of both shots was ferocious. Keeper maybe waiting for shots across him on both occasions.

Not sure what Scherpen was doing g for the second. It was a Muric style brain fart which needs to be eradicated pretty quickly.

Think he just misread the speed of the pass, I think he thought it was going to run through to him rather than Isak intercepting it, he just didn't adjust his feet to go backwards and cover his goal.

Both goals easily preventable too which is ok as we can learn 1st - Fatawu loses the ball far to easily then I think it's lukic who rushes over and gets easily bypassed. Greaves then doesn't look over his shoulder at all to see where Isak is, he had ample opportunity to quickly step foward putting isak in an offside position, instead he stops dead and Isak's beaten him. 2nd goal - Fatawu too deep, keeping isak onside . Again another easy offside to get, but we are not shaped for it. Our ability to 'get' offsides is a big weakpoint for me. And probably why Diop seems so out of place sometimes as he's trying to play a line that is high enough that causes oppos problems with playing balls through, issue is no one else is doing it with him. When you look at the goal that was offside and chalked off... we didn't even plan it, when the ball is played, all of our backline is still running towards our own goal, even then we didn;t step up before the ball was played.

We lost and I can't grumble and we lost to a very good side ... but we're a professional side playing at the highest level. We're not a school side. I'm pretty sure Gaz will look at the defending and ways to improve it. He won't be putting his head in the sand and saying it doesn't matter.
