Imo it was lunacy buying a keeper to loan him out again, to a club that's not even playing him.

For all we know, he might well have been the one saying that he needs to do better! I've got no issue with him being between the sticks, nor Walton either to be fair. GON has made the call and one he sees fit. It's a big call but it doesn't mean the end of Scherps in any way.

With regards to loaning KVO out, there's a couple of things to consider. We only watched him play a few minutes in a couple of friendlies in which he wasn't tested. Yes, he was excellent with his feet, but we didn't really see what he was like with crosses, one-on-one, getting down, commanding his box etc. He is highly rated and wasn't likely to be getting minutes here. The idea was to get him minutes elsewhere, we were probably told by Valencia that he would, but for one reason or another he hasn't. I'm sure we wouldn't have sent him out in the knowledge he was going to be warming the bench.

At least 2 of the back 4 are used to him

I meant more in terms of we know what he can do, and he isn't really up to it long term.

Personally, think this decision should've waited for after the break and also Scherpen probably better suited for a team like Everton with crosses and set-pieces. Hopefully we take something out of the game.

All of that is true enough. Still a bit odd though. if you're picking on ability, surely you go with Scherpen? And then to also make more changes in the back line. I dunno, settled sides are maybe be a thing of the past

So many people still overlooking the possible midweek illness angle. Not saying I know either though!

As I say, it's a big call. Although, in many ways it makes sense. GON acknowledged he would like to see us have a little more control and, as fans, we have all noticed that we look OK going forward, not quite so good defensively. He's moved DOS to CB, Greaves benched and Ouattara in at RB. Those two changes in and of themselves make a lot of sense.

We will be looking for this to improve the defence. If it doesn't , then it leaves us very much up in the air going into a long break.

He’s a mid level championship keeper who has a tendency to parry it back to the opposition and lets it go under him, what a nightmare this is, how can they keep getting it so wrong! So many decent keepers on the continent. Clearly far too data heavy rather than the eye test sometimes, I was worried as soon as I heard about his height in terms of mobility. After 4 games this is the wrong call as I don’t see anyway back for him now. All that money we have spent over 5 windows and we are starting Walton in the Premier League. YIKES!
