In recent years we have had Godfrey and Phillips who were "recent" England call ups who have joined us, and I was thinking how rare that has been for us since the turn of the century. I know Wright and Dyer have come back to us since playing for England, but even those returns were a long time ago now. We have had a handful of ex-players get called up such as Cresswell and Mings in more recent history. The mid80's onwards was the start of our "dry" period for England players. So I am thinking of anyone who played for England between 1990-99 essentially, who then went on to play for Town. You could include 2000 in there (as a decade) if you wanted to squeeze Wrighty in.
David Johnson was an England B player in 1998 while with Town, which was incredible given the forwards around at that time (who didn't make the England team often) included the likes of Ian Wright, Robbie Fowler, Les Ferdinand, Chris Sutton, Andy Cole, Dion Dublin, Emile Heskey, Kevin Phillips, Stan Collymore and more! England really did have a goldmine of great forwards in that period.

I didn't know he had a call up of any kind.
Chapman on paper was a great signing, forward that won both the 2nd and 1st tiers with Leeds not long before coming here, scoring shed loads, Leeds top Premier League scorer, then had a couple of bizarre moves before coming here, and we should have seen the writing on the wall!
He was woeful for Town, meant to be a Kiwomya replacement and despite being turd for us, somehow ended back at Leeds, only to be sent off on his return (due to a personal feud with West Ham over his time there) and binned off immediately.

The best I can do is Phil Parkes, who played for /Town/ in the 90s, having previously played for England (much earlier - 1974!), but of course did not play for England in the 90s.
I immediately thought of Lee Chapman, as others have, but yes, England B only for him.
2000s I appreciate, but there have been worse players get a call up than Marcus Stewart. The likes of Michael Ricketts around that period. |  | | |

He wasn't getting in ahead of Keown, Adams, Ferdinand, Brown, Campbell. He wasn't the best defender we had when he was here, because John McGreal and Mark Venus were still playing!
He had one good season with us, and traded off that for pretty much a career, because he looked rubbish at Newcastle, Wigan and Sunderland and gifted goals away most weeks. Even Mick took one look at him during a pre-season and decided he wasn't much of a footballer and wouldn't have him back here. I think that just about tells you everything given some of the pure athletes and masterful technicians he signed while Town boss. | |

Good spot! I recently included Walker in my average to shte loanees that went on to be good players list! His Welsh dad, managed Norwich, and he was on Towns books and played for England, so he at least achieved more than his dad did by playing for a better club/country. | |

I forgot he played for Wigan. He is coach now of Pakistan which is bonkers.

That's a bit unfair. Although he didn't really hit it off at Newcastle (I think he had some injury problems there), he was pretty solid for Wigan in the Premier League over a few seasons. Unless my memory is playing tricks.
