Cardiff: Town in Contact But Not for Chopra
Cardiff: Town in Contact But Not for Chopra
Monday, 1st Feb 2010 08:28

Cardiff City chairman Peter Ridsdale has confirmed that Roy Keane was in contact with his club on Friday but says that Michael Chopra wasn’t the subject of his interest. Over the weekend Keane hinted that Chopra might be a target as had been rumoured, but admitted that financing the move might be a problem.

However, Ridsdale says Keane asked about a another member of the Bluebirds squad when he was in contact late last week: “Ipswich were talking about a completely different player and were discussing a loan move for him.

“I’ve not had a bid for Chopra and I’m unaware that Roy has been talking of any renewed interest in him.”

One report this morning speculates that full-back Tony Capaldi or striker Warren Feeney, whose grandfather Jim played for Town in the 1950s, could have been the target, perhaps because Cardiff were willing to allow both players to go out on loan elsewhere earlier in the season, Capaldi to Leeds and Feeney to Sheffield Wednesday.

Another player who may have been interesting the Blues is full-back Kevin McNaughton, who has been mentioned in connection with Town on a number of occasions over the years.

McNaughton, 27, can play on either flank and also at the centre of the defence. The Blues are in the market for a left-back and also appear to need central defensive cover with Alex Bruce joining Leicester on loan for the rest of the season.

Mripswichtown, never a better word said. Who do they think we're going to be brining to the club? Kaka's move to Real Madrid hasn't gone quite as well as Ronaldo's and Alonso's maybe they'll look to offload him for slightly less than the £50m they paid for him? Get real, get behind the team and support the players who are here and any others that may come in today!!!

buryblue and mripswich - OK everything is rosy, we are doing so well, not missing chances and not adding no good players to our squad.

with all this chopra speculation is it a case of keane being negative and not getting hopes up or is it a case of Marcus Evans not willing to back his manager and put his hand in his pocket? Cardiff are cash strapped and are in need of the money, chopra is a top championship striker and has undoubted quality and is without doubt the 20 goal a season striker we all crave. MARCUS EVANS PLEASE BACK YOUR MANAGER AND GET YOUR CHEQUE BOOK OUT

Jimmy 86... Evans has backed his manager to the sum of £8 million and has seen his club go from outside the playoffs to relegation battlers the whole of the season so far ,in todays climate would you throw more money to someone who hasnt proved himself to you yet ?

surco I do agree that keanes signings up until now haven't been great bar leadbitter but chopra is exactly the sort of quality we need, he's scored plenty of goals this season already and is a proven goal scorer at this level, worth spending a bit more money on wouldn't you agree? martin has been a poor signing, as has priskin, fair does. people moan about healy but we signed him for 60,000 pounds, it was a punt, I went to palace on boxing day and in defence of healy he played well until being sacrificed due to steads sending off

If you read the article, we have not made an enquiry about Chopra, so forget him. You can type Chopra Chopra Gio Gio as much as you like but..........

They ain't coming!

So lets start looking at the liklihoods with a bit more positivity. I know nothing about them so how can anyone say with any certainty that they are no better than what we have? Until they pull and blue shirt on and play, we don't know how good they will be for us!

I remember all the criticism the club got after John Walters playes his first match. No good enough.......... K in his own division ............. etc etc etc.
