Upson Joins Barnet
Upson Joins Barnet

Midfielder Ed Upson has joined League Two Barnet on a month's loan. Upson has failed to make an impact on the Town first team since making sub appearances in the Carling Cup ties against Shrewsbury and Peterborough early in the season, although he had a spell out with glandular fever.

Bees boss Ian Hendon says he and his first team coach have been keeping an eye on the 20-year-old: "Lee Harrison and I have watched Upson umpteen times. He is a good young player. The young lads I am bringing in at the moment are players who might be available in the future."

Upson, who has also recently been watched by Blue Square Premier side Histon, is out of contract in the summer. Manager Roy Keane recently said that the Bury St Edmunds based player had work to do if he was to extend his Town stay.

Last season, Upson, who scored the winning goal in the 2005 FA Youth Cup final, spent time on loan at Stevenage Borough, making only one brief appearance as a sub.

And the same could be said of Keane.

Going to Barnet's game tomorrow, so looking forward to seeing Ed play. The Bees look after their players well, and the training facilities there are brand new and up to most Championship sides standards, so his development should continue. However, Ian Hendon seems to be indicating that the two players he has managed to loan this week could be possible signings in the summer.

Bluetone, just remember that you are not allowed to state your opinion. After all we have just had one good win against Cardiff and therefore Keane is a god. The fact that its taken him so long to get a balanced team with players actually playing in their best positions, and that it partly came because of a suspension, should just be overlooked.

Aah now I understand.
Mind you I do wonder how many of those worshipping at the feet (or many a couple of feet higher up) of Lord Keane are refugees from Manure.

he hasnt been given a chance, how about giving him 20 minutes at the end of a home match, as long as we're comfortable

Keane has more work to do than Upson ! Yet another promising player dispatched . I guess all the Keane fans will say it's been a great season if we avoid relegation! What hold has he over them ? !?

Dispatched? Kentblue wtf is wrong with you, if Upson is up to standards he will sign a new contract. If he isn't, he'll just be like umpteen other youths who just weren't good enough.

Since when is a one month loan being 'dispatched'. Idiot

Is Gus yet another refugee from Manure worshipping at the feet (or many a couple of feet higher up) of Lord Keane?
