Norris a Doubt for Sheffield United Trip
Norris a Doubt for Sheffield United Trip
Thursday, 4th Nov 2010 17:20

Skipper David Norris is a doubt for Saturday’s game at Sheffield United with the leg injury which forced him off in the closing stages of Saturday’s 2-0 home victory over Millwall.

On-loan Tottenham man Jake Livermore replaced the former Plymouth midfielder for the final 10 minutes against the Lions.

Norris had been a doubt for that game having collided with Northampton keeper Chris Dunn during the Blues’ 3-1 Carling Cup tie victory over the Cobblers last Tuesday.

We should be fine, as we're overloaded with cover in central midfield. Perhaps Colback could move to the centre, with Townsend coming back into the side.

Good. Far prefer the central midfield with Livermore trying to play football. Every time Norris gets involved he either concedes a free kick or sends a wayward pass - the most over rated player at the club.

Agree with cunning stunt, prefer playing football with livermoore in the side, him and colback, and townsend. It's just a shame when they are all gone (along with o'dea) we will have a very poor team and master wheeler and dealer keane will have to strut his stuff in the transfer market again.

Never mind! Livermore is a far better player, give him a start.

Will miss him constantly chasing the opposition players

We always seem to do badly without him though. I think it's his high work rate which rubs off on the other players.

Livermore is most certainly not a far better player, he is a differant type of player for sure but i think people underestimate Norris. I agree with many in the past that say that he and Leadbitter are far too much alike and we miss the attack which someone like Livermore brings.

For me Norris is a bit like a midfield version of Richard Naylor, we love him for his effort, he huffs and puffs and gives 110% every week but when it comes down to it he's just not quite good enough. He runs around a lot but often into blind alleys.Livermore or Colback's probably a better bet with Townsend on the wing, a bit more guile

Isn't Norris our top goal scorer this season?

And remember what happened to us when he was out injured for the first half of last season?

Exactly fatboy. He's had a couple of dodgy games but other than that he's a great captain, a good tackler, has a good heart, never gives up and scored goals. That said, really impressed with Livermore and looking forward to him or Colback and townsend getting stuck in. Will be a much faster midfield.

some forgot the effort he puts in which makes me like him as a player and to me is unfairly treated at times imo

yes livermore‚ colback and townsend will add something different but norris can be a miss but luckly we can have the resources to make a change without affecting the team so much

garv about if the loanees go back does not make us a very poor team so stop overreacting as i say to many like yourself

I rate Norris- but we have cover for him. Its not like GM isn't playing...

I really think a lot of us are being unfair to Norris, he's been a great cpt so far for us and is 110% dedicated to the club. Yes, at times he's a bit off with the passing but we have no one else in the side who runs their arse off for every single ball when given the opportunity. However it also gives a chance for Livermoore, Townsend and Colback to get back into the fray who are all great players for us and should be an exciting lineup for Saturday!

Keep it up Keano! COYB

anyone could cover for him really but he can score goals which is a rare talent in this team.maybe they should stick him up front we have had worse up there priskin for example

Oh well. We have plenty of cover, straight swap for Livermore I assume.

I think Chuck has been playing a lot better than Leadbitter this season and would like to see Livermore alongside Norris when all fit .But we have enough cover for tomorrow easily between Livermore,Colback and Hyam with Townsend coming back onto wing .

Can't beleive people saying that Chuck is over rated!!

Along with Macca he has been most consistant for us and were it not for him we wouldn't be in the Quater finals of the cup, we would have been knocked out by the mighty Exeter.

I agree that we do have strength in depth in that position and Livermore would be the ideal replacement but no way is he over rated. If were looking for a player thats over rated it would be Leadbitter. Much rather have Chuck and Colbeck in the middle with Edwards and Townsend on the wings, Priskin and Scotland up top and Macca and Smith at the heart of the defence, Fulop Number 1. thats as good as any back bone in the CCC IMO.
