O'Dea Fancies Town Stay
O'Dea Fancies Town Stay

On-loan Celtic defender Darren O’Dea says he’d like to stay with the Blues beyond the end of his current loan spell which ends in early January. O’Dea’s time with Town has been hampered by a knee injury suffered while he was away on duty with the Republic of Ireland.

O’Dea, whose girlfriend gave birth to the couple’s first child earlier this week, told the club site: "I've not really thought about it too much though. It's down to other people to sort out but I'm certainly enjoying my football here.

"I think my time at Ipswich has helped me improve as a player and we'll have to see what happens over the next few weeks, but it's not important at the moment, all I want to do is help the team get back up the table."

O’Dea is likely to keep his place at left-back at Preston on Saturday having returned to training after suffering a minor hamstring injury during Saturday’s home loss to Swansea.

Alright Darren, you've talked me in to it - you can stay on one condition - no more naughty norwichs!

I think this dude can be one the of the best CB in the league if we play him there. He is not a left back and this has been proven in the last couple of games. On the other hand I would love keane to get him until the end of the season then make a choice then.

Would make a good championship centre back alongside Mac or Delaney ,obviuosly Keane still hasnt learnt his lesson about playing centre backs out of position Delaney last year was bad enough but to continue with Eastman,Smith,O Dea is shocking

Well saying he wants to be here is a start, perhaps Zoo'v'lne should take a leaf out of his book...

No thanks, no left back, been one of the poorest players in the last few games, would like to see our own young players like O'Conner and Brown given more of a chance. Back four should be for Preston: Peters, Brown, Smith, O'Conner

He's awful. Get rid. Along with all the other loan players, as soon as we can. Keane out.

I don't think he is good enough. Bottled it against Norwich, another shocker against Swansea. I dont see why we dont dive into the lower leagues and pick up a few players on the cheap that are craving to play for a team like town rather than rejects from the premier league that dont give a t*ss where they go as long as they get paid at the end of each week.
Matt Holland - Bournemouth, David Johnson - Bury, Marcus Stewart - Huddersfield. Ipswich greats that were given a chance on the portman road stage and were outstanding. what I'd do to have Johnson and Stewart upfront for us today!

If we want to get into the premiership and stay there in the next coming years we will need much better players than o'dea so In my opinion he is'nt the player we need.

Oh yeah coz there all lining up to sign for us ain't they!!!

What more do you want? at least he's showing some commitment to the club and wanting to stay and play for us rather than wanting to abandon ship...
yes he has been a little poor in recent weeks but who can you say has actually played to there ability??? i'm thinking not many. He will come good again and i would keep hold of him as he is coming back from an injury as well..

And if you have ever been waiting for your child to arrive you will know why his mind has not been fully on his playing ! If you can concentrate on your job at that time you will be a single minded emotionless tw''t !

even though he hasnt been playing well at all over the last month he's still tried. i would sign him up because on his day he's quality and experience like his would be vital if we got into the prem (even though he made a shocker again norwich). it's not like with got players pilling in that want to join.

I dont think he will have a choice because what ive seen of him he seems a fairly average centre half in the championship and i cant see Celtic wanting him anymore but im sure Keane/Clegg will offer some obscenee amount of money for him though.

So he's improved as a player since being here. Must have been absolute sh**e in Scotland then!

i rate this guy, yes he has had a few bad games recently but as others have said his mind has quite rightly been elsewhere lately, should have been given gardening leave in my mind! When on form he puts in good timely tackles, and i personally think would make a better centre back than Delaney and definately does a job at left back although i do prefer O Connor!

Give O'conner a longer run. I'd also agree about putting a round peg in a round hole. We need specialist RB & LB if we're to go up. Not sure about digging into the lower leagues . . . but never say never.

IMO apart from Macca the back line is CRAP and we've only look good there a few times this year, or past years. Delaney has the odd good game, and the young'uns struggle for form and confidence with no run of games or being played out of position.

Maybe we should settle Troy and Tom in the Reserves to form a partnership, but I'm not sure either will be premiership quality in 2 years - after all that's what we need isn't it?

Don't want to be negative, but the season started so well, it could get much worse now. Dig in lads and get a run of good results going.
