No Leadbitter Appeal
No Leadbitter Appeal
Tuesday, 4th Jan 2011 14:03

Town have decided not to appeal against Grant Leadbitter's red card during yesterday's 1-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest.

The former Sunderland man was dismissed in the closing stages for a studs-up challenge on Forest midfielder Paul Anderson.

Leadbitter, 24, will miss the FA Cup tie at Chelsea on Sunday, the first leg of the Carling Cup semi-final at home to Arsenal and the league match at Millwall.

The sending off means the Blues will be short of midfielders for the two cup ties with Town's loan players also unavailable.

It was a harsh red card, went in with studs showing but won the ball first in my opinion. Not worth appealing in case he gets another match on top of the 3.

I've seen worse challenges had one leg tucked under no way did he mean it , they're right in not appealing will only get longer ban.
Plus last season when he had break from team he came back better player.
But what I couldn't work out is we got a free kick from it !!!

Leadbitter got fouled initially which is why we got the free kick. He got the red card for his retaliation. It did seem a bit harsh but without him in the team we may actually win. For all the effort he brings, he couldn't pass water, his set pieces are rubbish and doesn't weigh in with enough goals from open play. We won 2 in a row without him last season, stuck him back in and collapsed at Watford.

With fewer midfielders available, keane may luckily stumble across a more balanced midfield. He'd need to fluke it because he certainly hasn't the got the brains to knowingly pick a balanced team.

Might be a blessing ,he hasnt played well all season and will give other partnerships a try out in centre midfield .Colback or Livermore alongside Norris .Last season when he was suspended we won the games he didnt play but then Keane reverted back to the same three Leadbitter ,Norris ,Colback which has never worked ,keep trying though Roy it may come good

Pablos agree to a point but can u name a midfield to face cheese?

Two of the games he is suspended for are the cup games so it will not be Livermore to partner Norris in those two

May be this would be a great chance for Luci to play - I'm sure he could turn on the magic!!!

Agreed so we are very very thin, will have to be Jamie peters in the center I guess with Edwards on right but can we risk civelli? Who will be on bench??? Interesting times

Is Luke Hyam fit? And I guess Mr Healy may make an appearance ....

You can only be cup tied if you have played so far this season as this is the first game for Town,Spurs or Sunderland neither Colback or Livermore are cup tied for the FA cup game and can also play in the Millwall game ,hence 2 out of the three games Leadbitter is suspended .But as you say IITFC1948 some people are thick ,like adding two i's to their name ?

Norris, Edwards and Healy will surely all start. Could we risk Lambe? Also, people forget that PETERS is a decent winger - surely he will play in his preferred position?

Won't make much difference who plays will it, we would struggle to beat Canvey Island at the moment, be gald when the cup games are over and we can forget about it, won't be wasting any more cash on this rubbish.

Shocking challenge, clearly deserved the red card.

Civelli, Edwards, Healy, Hourihane, Lambe, Norris, Peters, Quinn...a few options there. We could push Kennedy forward, although his legs may not cope.

It's a shame we no longer have Townsend as he did well in the earlier rounds.

Surco 72 I am under the impression that the"owner" clubs are unwilling to release their loan players for the FA Cup

Peters colback Norris Edwards for chelsea (left to right), but we know our 'manager' WILL NOT do the obvious thing. Arsenal I would say will have to be peters healy (spose) Norris and Edwards. Might do us good to be without the brainless leadbitter, but would be nice to have garvan instead, how much did we get for him in the end? Club is a shambles.

Sorry, but he went in with studs up and probably deserved to go - if it was a Forest player we would have had no arguement

For all of his faults, at least he does show some passion and effort.
