Keane Leaves Town
Keane Leaves Town
Thursday, 6th Jan 2011 22:52

TWTD understands that Town manager Roy Keane has parted company with the club. The Blues boss has been under pressure with Town having dropped to 19th in the Championship despite a promising start to the season which saw them hit second.

Keane, whose contract was due to end in June, joined the Blues in April 2009 after Jim Magilton’s sacking and despite winning his first two games in charge at the end of the 2008/09 season never threatened to repeat his success at Sunderland.

The end looked to have been on the cards for some weeks now with Marcus Evans apparently unwilling to commit funds for transfers and Keane having exchanged angry words and gestures with fans after Monday’s 1-0 loss at home to Nottingham Forest.

Earlier today, Paddy Power stopped betting on the identity of Keane’s likely successor with former Wigan, Bradford, Sheffield Wednesday and Derby boss Paul Jewell’s odds having been cut from 20/1 to 6/5.

Former Newcastle manager Chris Hughton and ex-Charlton boss Alan Curbishley have both previously been linked with the Blues.

Lets get a Manager in to bring back pride into the way we play football. A really high profile Manager and Assistant who will turn around our "Lump it Forward aimlessly" approach.
Sam Allardyce with Ray Wilkins as Assistant. Good combination.
Paul Jewell won't get the job, he retired from football management 2 years ago!

As long as we don't sign Ian Dowie, Glenn Roeder, Paul Jewell or Bryan Gunn as Manager I don't mind who we sign!
Better Times ahead! Better Times!

I cannot imagine Jewell getting the job, remember all the scandals? Hardly what ME would appoint.

I do remember the scandals. Jewell deserves a chance, hopefully he's learned the errors of his ways and will come into ITFC with a new vision and a new image.
He had an appalling record with Derby, but that was in the Premiership against the Livs/ManUtds of this world.
I remember his football was quite one touch orientated, with use of players who could score from distance and a holding midfielder (Robbie Savage?). People enjoyed his brand of football but derby went through a terrible time with him.
NOT in the same bracket as Dowie, Roedder and Gunn. The guy isn't perfect, neither are we. People learn from their errors.Give the guy a chance!

This must be your greatest moment bobble, where are you?

And for all of you that think good times are ahead, think again.
Keane is merely the managerial face. He's made mistakes but the rot in this club goes much deeper.Without adequate development our once beloved club can still only go one way.
I pity whoever takes charge. They are onto a thankless job. They will be expected to keep us up with (if they are lucky) £1 million worth of investment.
Expect a couple of years of seeing plenty more Rory Fallons (I love RF, but what I mean is- relatively unknown players).
Doubt we will sign Midson, it will be up to the new man to decide who he wants in

Probably the right decision but let's not celebrate what is another sad & sorry period for the club. Let's face it we've been in decline/going nowhere for nearly 10 years. For goodness sake, whoever it is who takes over get behind them & more importantly the players on the field. Give them plenty of time before any knives come out again. And don't be surprised if we are in an absolute dogfight not to get relegated this season. From what I have seen on recent games here on the TV from Oz we are not a good side at all...how much of that was Keane's fault remains to be seen. The Leicester game was a farce & could have gone either way...other games I've seen many of the players don't look up to it even at Champ level.

One day Roy will be a good manager, but not at Ipswich, I think that the club have a bigger problem, Clegg The man is just a lap dog for Evans, he is dragging the club down he does not know what he is doing.get him out

So finally it has happened .... Kinda wierd but although happy also feel a bit sad as anyone does when a relationship that you know has to end finally does.

I always said ME wasn't an idiot and i reckon he's had a plan for a while now.

My choice is Hughton tho i read somewhere that ME knows Roy Hodgson pretty well. Maybe it's all about timing !!!! Bet he'll be jobless in a day or two.

RKeaneisaGod i loved that spell when you were writing ironic, pro Keane posts for a while. Gave me a smile.

So we move on. Exciting times !

Looking on the bright side....

Hopefully the overdue sacking of Keane will bring an end Town's recent proclivity for signing mediocre players and journeymen, be they of Irish descent or not!

I just hope we can all get behind the new manager....?

If their is a god then or next manager won't be Paul Jewel (IMHO).

If it is Paul Jewell, we will need to make an instant move for Tyrone Mears (Burnley)

Is Keane set for the Palace job? (some reports suggest so).
How ironic would that be?

Good point about bobble. This should be his finest moment and he has vanished!
Think jewell would be a mistake. The guy holds some bad records in football (guiness book of records bad)
We are all talking about jewell being manager and its not confirmed yet that Keano is gone!
