Keane Leaves Town
Keane Leaves Town
Thursday, 6th Jan 2011 22:52

TWTD understands that Town manager Roy Keane has parted company with the club. The Blues boss has been under pressure with Town having dropped to 19th in the Championship despite a promising start to the season which saw them hit second.

Keane, whose contract was due to end in June, joined the Blues in April 2009 after Jim Magilton’s sacking and despite winning his first two games in charge at the end of the 2008/09 season never threatened to repeat his success at Sunderland.

The end looked to have been on the cards for some weeks now with Marcus Evans apparently unwilling to commit funds for transfers and Keane having exchanged angry words and gestures with fans after Monday’s 1-0 loss at home to Nottingham Forest.

Earlier today, Paddy Power stopped betting on the identity of Keane’s likely successor with former Wigan, Bradford, Sheffield Wednesday and Derby boss Paul Jewell’s odds having been cut from 20/1 to 6/5.

Former Newcastle manager Chris Hughton and ex-Charlton boss Alan Curbishley have both previously been linked with the Blues.

New manager Paul Lambert!! Oh sorry just woke up from my dream. I'd love it to be Curbishley who is proven quality manager over many years with Charlton & West Ham wouldn't be in the mess they're in if they'd stuck by him. Not sure about Jewell, he's had good & bad times. Hughton is a bit too inexperienced altthough so far his track record is good.

Crazee and katemoss - i think your posts are demented!! Open your eyes.

This is great news and long overdue. Paddy Power won't be wrong with such drastic odd slashing as that. Jewell isn't the man for me as much as i like him as a character and have to respect getting unglamorous s**thouse clubs like Bradford and Wigan into the premier league. His win percentage at clubs is pretty poor though and his managerial record goes either one of two ways. Quick promotion or win less relegation threatened failure - not too comfortable with this gamble.

The cheap option i think. There are better more experienced managers out there at the moment.

Would be happy with Chris Hughton with Steve Clarke as no 2

I would even be happy with Big Sam or Martin O'Neill but that is dreaming I think

Not sure about Paul Jewell. Would love ME to offer Paul Lambert a much bigger wage than he is on at Norwich and him accept it. Now that would be heaven!

I really hope this is true! Its a shame it hasn't worked out for RK here as I think he has tried his best but its become obvious for a while now that it just wasn't working.
At this stage, I don't really care who takes over as anyone else is an improvement at the moment, but I just hope they bring back attacking, entertaining, passing football to make watching ITFC enjoyable again. Now is our chance to get our Ipswich back, here's hoping ME makes the correct appointment

Lets get someone in based on their ability to manage not to look good in the media and sell newspaper inches.
Some of the names being mentioned worry me if I am honest.

So the story will go something along the lines of...
Colback recalled
RK goes to ME and says I now need money to make signings
ME says No, your off in the summer so I'm not giving you any more £££
RK well if I'm off in the summer and you won't give me money I might aswell go now
ME ok then

Shouldnt have let Townsend leave Roy.

Paul Jewell is a bit uninspiring but will be well backed by all. Would love to see Houghton and for all those that say he has no experience know nothing, he has 20+ years as an assistant manager & coach and some of the country's biggest clubs, hes a great man manager and would be ideal. Curbs has been out of the picture for a while (due to contact issues from West Ham) and although he did extremely well at Charlton he was not good at West Ham so I'm unconvinced. Poyet has got Brighton playing very well and was clearly pulling the strings at Leeds behind Denis Wise. Darren Furguson NO, Gary Megson NO. If all else fails we'll have O'Neill or Jol.

Thanks Roy it's been... Interesting?

Can any of you who blame us fickle fans really still want RK here. He failed for many reasons but mostly because he was not good enough

So it looks like the rumours I referred to on Wednesday were true after all. Sad that it has come to this but very hard to argue against it. IMO what we need now is a safe and experienced pair of hands to try and put the club back to where it should be. A big task I think given the amount of players nearing the end of their contracts however I guess that will give them the chance to bring in their own players.

Blimey, the things that happen after I go to bed!

Feel sad that it didn't work out for Keano, but I think his time had run its course. Now lets all move on and support the new manager with positivity and cheer the lads on to a decent second half of the season.

COYB!

Press Conference called at 11 am. These rumours are definately real. You can "kind of" see the pattern (Keane gets rid of Townsend because he has Colback on the left- then loses Colback due to lack of funding from ME). Did he resign or was he sacked? And is a successor already in place? All to be revealed!!

Aint seen nought on TV yet but just incase
YYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA and take all your useless minions with you, you (i promised i would not swear no more on here so please use your imagination) not very good manager!
KEANO OUT!! KEANO OUT!! KEANO OUT!! KEANO OUT!!

Perhaps faith can be restored if the CEO and the Boss (ME) can use common sense and find a good footballing replacement NOT a big name. ITFC may breath life into Her football once again if the right Manager is appointed (not Curbishley he has been out of football for too long!) and this explains the lack of signings as descisions had already been made and make no mistake to all the Keane lovers (5) lol this was the right thing to do because finances dictate we must stay in Championship and not get relagated (you never know , new manager could kick us up the table even).
New manager will mean new players and whats the bets we wont be watching 4 CB 4 CM and fowards with no confidence and frightened to upset the manager!

ps Martin Oneil is on his way!!
