O'Dea Unsure of Future
O'Dea Unsure of Future

On-loan defender Darren O’Dea says his future is now up in the air following the change of manager at Portman Road. The Celtic defender says he was all-set to remain on loan with the Blues until the end of the season until Roy Keane's departure.

O’Dea said: “It was all agreed that my loan would be extended and I would be with Ipswich until the end of the season.

“But this was under the management of Roy Keane, and I don’t know now what will happen under a new manager.

“I want to stay, but I will have to wait for it to be sorted and I’m just concentrating on playing Arsenal in the Carling Cup at Portman Road on Wednesday and then the Championship game at Millwall on Saturday.”

jas0999 - you have it about right there fella. Wickham should either be used now or sold. The future is now and if this kid is up to the challenge and good enough, we need to start seeing it. If PJ (& Duncan?) is looking at DVD's he will see Fallon having make a big difference in a short time.

You are right about Norris a trier, and Leadbitter is turning into the new Super Jim, but the one towards the end of his career - too many long balls floated down field / out of play / into space, etc.

Scotland & Fallon for me up top. Suggest PJ will play 4-4-2.

Folks to get rid of:- Priskin, Lisbie, Martin, O'Dea, probably Livermore, Quinn.... maybe others, maybe not - if PJ does have an open mind and as he says - clean slates.

If you look at our squad, there are far too many young, not ready players. Some will push on, some won't. Should they be in our 1st XI squad?

Be interesting how PJ treats the Civelli situation...

martlesham,,,, i don't sense the negativity on this storey link all thou i understand your point going on previous storeys,,,, The fact here thou is that the player in question simply hasn't performed in a Town shirt so why keep him on if he isn't even our player,,,? suggestions that he is on a good wage would advocate even more so to move him on and goodbye,,,, (in mine and many others opinions it seems)

martleshamitfc. This has been a very very positive day for TWTD and these are now positive times for ITFC, i should not be sarcastic but i really dont think ODea is good enough and i hope PJ thinks the same. Pick up on the positives and lets rid Town of any Keane things that are left hurting this Club!

martlesham - not trying to be negative. I am not a manager thank goodness! Just stating an OPINION on our current players. Personally I have not been impressed by O'Dea. The new manager may wish to getrid of him and other loanees to free up funds (rather than spend on players brought in under Roy). Just realistic I am afraid!

O'Dea the new Beattie? I hope that was a tongue in cheek comment (it was, wasn't it?)
I never really understood why RK dragged him in, O'Connor, Kennedy and Peters (as well as a fit Civelli) all better in that left back slot, and Delaney and Smith better in the left centre position. We're not a club that really needs that kind of in-depth cover, this is the Championship, not the Champion's League. As for the argument that competition for places brings out the best in players, well just look at the league position and the recent lacklustre performances to disprove that theory.
I hope Darren does well in the future, just can't see it being a future in Suffolk blue.

COYB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

personally think he like others in the squad started really well then got 'KEANED'

Celtic play in a second rate league with second rate players, and we get one that is not even good enough for that. From what I have seen he is not championship standard, and his loan here one of the reasons keane failed. Good bye I think.

Sorry lad, but if PJ saw what I saw on Sunday, you, Healy and Edwards should have ur slates broken not cleaned!

I thought he had a good game at Coventry. But the rest of the time I was far from convinced and it seemed quite bizarre to me that he was chosen ahead of Delaney and Smith yesterday. Having said that I think you would have to something pretty special to come into such a poor town team and impress.

Tenpin i actually think Edwards will thrive under PJ who believes in playing wingers - if the team is playing football that plays to the strenghts of its men then a lot should show a vast improvement. Like i said before also good job his name isnt Bob as we keep shortening it to PJ!!

bluebrit, surely if its that poor then it doesnt take much to impress??? maybe why some of our players look half decent but in reality in a good team would be way out of their depth?? just an idea!

Hmm.

If his first thought on a new Manager coming in is that he might be gone, that doesn't come across at all well.

He ought to be dead keen and seeking to impress from the word go, not whining about his uncertain future.

If you want a future with Ipswich, man up, put in the effort and make it certain!

bluelady - good point about Edwards ... may do well if as you say Jewell plays wingers.

We need to start rolling back all the damage Keane did to our club, including most of his signings and loanees, that would still leave us with a small band of good players. Bring back the Ipswich heritage - attractive, flowing football with players that are happy on the ball + a couple of " bite your legs off" players ( not a whole team full)
Lets hope, with time, Paul J will bring back the good times.

I bet there are loads of keanes crap signings that know their time is limited! Almost all of his signings were poor and loan players are surely not the way to build a successful squad!
New start, new era! Yes. COYB's!!!! Bloooooo army!

A bit harsh people! Norwich was a shambles though. I liked him to begin with. He's lost his way a bit since then.
