Quinn Undergoes Surgery
Quinn Undergoes Surgery
Thursday, 3rd Feb 2011 15:47

Midfielder Alan Quinn is facing at least another three or four weeks on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on the groin injury which has kept him out of action for the entire season so far. The 31-year-old, who is out of contract in June, suffered what initially appeared to be a minor problem in the pre-season friendly at Leiston in July.

Manager Paul Jewell said: “Alan Quinn has gone in for another operation on his groin today which will probably keep him out of action for a three to four weeks, which is unfortunate for Alan. But other than keeper Brian Murphy [ankle] we’re OK.

“It’s amazing that when you’re winning games you don’t get any injuries! There are one or two knocks and bruises because we’ve had a few games lately but nothing serious.”

Jewell and his team were spotted taking a walk to a café local to the club’s Playford Road training ground this morning ahead of Saturday's home game against Quinn's old club Sheffield United.

Groin surgery - the less glamourous side of professional football.

Thanks for the service Quinner but I think your days are numbered. Contract up in the summer, out for another 4 weeks, already have enough midfielders.

Do one.

@clive_baker

'Thanks for the service...' followed by 'Do one.'

A little contradictory to say the least!

When someone has a long-term injury like this, what proportion of their full salary package will they get? And does a club insure against player injuries - or are we just paying Alan Quinn for... nothing?

Been out all season and only now he goes in for surgery?

Football is this guy's career, if he is physically unable to play its not his fault, he will still be paid and rightly so. The club signed a contract too. I actually quite like Quinn, good ball player with a half decent delivery, and remember his goal against the scum in Jim's last game?

A place in folklore for that goal which was a great finish but generally pretty average and unlikely to get a new deal. Could be a good League One player for someone if he gets fit

What is it with people on this site 'lay off the pies' 'waste of space' etc, he's a human being not a waste of space, jesus big men on the net, small face to face.

I wish him a speedy recovery - but would be surprised to see him play for us again. Can't see him being offered a new contract.

Feel for him, but can only see one outcome for him now & that will be him moving on in the summer.

Seriously some people who comment here are beyond belief. I'm sure there are brighter sheep out there.

A) Think you've played your last game for us.
B) Lay off the pies, useless lard arse
C) Yeah, injured = pants
D) Finished. Go on son, do us all a favour - do one.
E) Hey "B", what's all this about laying off the pies
F) Waste of space!
B) E, I wasn't talking about the person the whole article is about, I was giving nutritional advice to the nation as a whole
G) I'll remember him for scoring against the Scum
C) Yeah, I remember that. Place in Folklore.
D) One of the best we've ever had. Clegg out!
H) I agree, he'd never have got injured if Clegg was a football man
I) I doubt PJ can fix his leg
A) All the best son - place in PR history.
F) Feel for him,
J) Get rid
K) Irish / Sunderland / Keane Move on
C) Never heard of him, but clearly not up to it
I) Should go out on loan to League 1 side where he can bang em every week
J) Rhodes scored 75 goals in 11 starts for Huddersfield. Sign him up.
D) Happy days are coming back
H) FORK

Phil, please put a big shiny button at the top of the page which will print off really difficult dot-to-dot puzzles for these clowns to do instead.

On the subject of long-term injuries, do you really think we'll ever see Civelli in the first team again. Be sad - because of his promise - but maybe he's crocked, poor lad?

mickeyjb and Suffolk_n_Good

That's funny!

I suppose if you imagine me thumping the keyboard in furious anger - then you'd suppose tetchiness and sense of humour loss.

On the other hand, if you actually read my comments you'll see that have been written with a clear head and an enormous tongue in cheek.

It all boils down to how intelligent you are I suppose.

(Long live the thick people, they make me look even more clever than I think I already am)
